Top pair weak kicker on wet boards

Hi there,I'm posting this here because it's kind of a general question which happens somewhat often when I'm playing. When I'm in position and I flop top pair with no kicker (K5 on KsTd8s for example). I'm generally cbetting flop for value, it's not clear though what to do when I get check raised on the flop or on the turn. On this example it was a hyper turbo against a regular, I cbet flop, turn comes a Jd, villain check raises all in after I fired a half pot cbet. There are still plenty of draws he could be doing that with (specially because he's a reg so I think it's more likely he's not check raising turn only with made hands). When I'm out of position with such a hand, what is "standard", assuming we're not very deep (I'd say less than 40bb), check calling or check raising to get it in?I know it's a very general (and perhaps dumb) question, but I'd like  to hear some thoughts on this type of situation, including like "should I be checking back this type of marginal top pair on the flop for pot control" (don't think so generally, but maybe I'm wrong), and if I should against what type of opponents.

The board is too awful to

The board is too awful to continue cbetting on turn. I'd rather check it, and give villain opportunity to bluff on the river, given that river card doesn't come even more scary.
