*** RELOAD ***

Hello HUSNG :-)

I went busto playing micro's hyper turbos on Stars about  a month ago. Since then I've been studying and practicing as much as possible.

I just made a small reload, and im thinking about my approach.

This is what I have -

@ $1.50 - 174BI

@ $3.50 - 74BI

@ $7.00 - 37BI

I understand conservative BI range is 100BI, aggressive 50/35. I noticed some of the coaches playing with 200 or more BI in their videos.

I was like, WOW, how chilled would I be with 200BI. But I cant afford that for the $7.00 level. With the $1.50 and $3.50 I lose 1 BI every 25 & 35 games respectivly.

Also Im playing to earn some cash so $7.00 I can imagine at the end of the day being up an amount that I could value in relationship to my needs.

In my downtime after going busto, I formulated a plan, including scheduling my time through the week, being healthy and getting fit and all that sensible stuff. Unfortunatly Im a bitch who cant resist a fight so I find it very dificult to be disciplined. ( Re reading this I realize I need this discipline to be a fit and healthy competitor )

I want to fight and push the boundries, this I know about myself.

Im worried my personality and character triats dont mix well with Poker, as we always read advice on dicipline and removing the variance bitch from your life style and game.

I also think variance is a bitch or a blessing, so it can work both ways.

When I played before going busto, I found long streatches of frustration where I wasnt winning enough games to move up quick enough, this made me reckless and ultimatly play non optimum.

So, I don't have the 200BI I would like to give me a cusion. I can play relativly comfortably at the $3.50 with 74BI..... What's your advice? how should I appoach this ? Mad aggressive moving up taking lost of shots when the roll is fat and your running good, or be patient slowly build your roll to eliminate risk of ruin? What has been your experiance if you have a similar temperment to me ?

Are there any coaches, regs that have this similar character who have been succesful and would be of great inspiration ?

Happy to be back,

Many Thanks.

Make no mistake. The reason

Make no mistake. The reason why coaches and regulars who play for a living, have a very conservative BI is because they need to make a living from it. A downswing might happen any time and if you have a weak BRM you might be forced to move down. If you have to move down (due to a downswing), you still might have a 3% ROI, but instead of playing the $100 hypers you now play the $60 hypers and your $-Winnings are cut very very strongly.

That is also why, some players who do not play for a living have a very loose BRM. They can afford to fall back from the $15 to the $3.50 and move up again. The only loss here is time, but they do not endanger their existance.

IMO you should play the $3.50. 70 BI seems fine to me.
GL! I will be back on Stars soon too. Currently playing on Partypoker.

Welcome back

Hi Cleaner,
Welcome back.
I was dissapointed when you posted that you had gone busto because I have been benefiting from the questions you have posted & associated replies.
Like you, I am a beginner, passionately trying to learn the game.
Personally I find it difficult to play well and avoid tilting when I take aggressive shots at the next level underrolled.
This compounds into larger losses and frustration at how long it will take to rebuild when I move back down.
In order to play my A game I need to be indifferent towards running bad => play with conservative BRM.
Good luck :)

Hey cdon3822,

So far I think you and Barrin are correct to recommend a conservative approach as my reactions to tilting are the same as yours.
Thats kind of how I managed to go Busto. Taking a failed shot to move up and the disappointment and frustration dragged me down.
So for now I'm going to try and behave myself and channel that desire to move up into performing better at my current level.
But I'm so hungry for sucsess... It's like self sabotage.

The irony of poker

I think thats the irony of poker - to play well and see results in the long term you need to be indifferent to results in the short term.
My approach at the moment is found every decision in EV calcs so I'm not concerned with short term result - I know I'm engineering a profitable probability distribution which my results will fall out of.
Where villains turn up with hands that were not in range assumption which I made my decision on, I make a note of it and calculate the correct adjustment.
I am developing standard plays / adjustments away from the tables so I have a decision framework to make emotionless decisions when I'm playing.
This has helped me a lot with dealing with tilt issues I have due to being a results oriented person.
I'll add you on skype and maybe we can help each other out.
