bluff river vs loose passive?

Villian is a pretty generic loose passive player. Dont have a lot of reads. Most pots have been pretty small. was c/r'd off a flush/overcard early on. Have no idea of his hero calling abilities

Question is, how inclined are we to bluff the river. I think the villain would call around any Kx Jx 5x (have seen no flop check/raises yet), probably QT maybe Q9 T9, prob low PP.
But when he checks the river, we're about 100% certain his hand is not a King, not QT. Very low chance he'd have an Ace. Which puts him squarely on a Jx 5x Q9/T9 or low PP. all weakish hands. Against a normal player, we can credibly rep a Kx that chkd turn because of the turn overcard. But are we bluffing against this guy? 2/3 pot full pot overbet pot?

I would tend to check here.

I would tend to check here. What could he have called your flop bet with that he wouldn't call on the river? I think if you were going to bluff the A on the turn would have been a better spot because it most likely would have gotten him off his 5 or J

Why are you so certain that

Why are you so certain that he doesn't have a King ?Sure, a "normal" player never has any King here, but you wrote that he's loose-passive - and I've seen so many loose-passive guys check (and even check/call !) trips here.  And he certainly won't give you any credit for having a King either, so he'll most likely call you down super light.  The question is now whether he's weak or not - it's whether he can actually fold some marginal hands.Just think about what these guys are doing - they think they're super smart by trying to "trap" you with their strong hands, so don't pay them off by running some weird bluffs in spots where it's very unlikely that they'll fold.

Dunno, was fairly certain

Dunno, was fairly certain that he would bet a king here, but you have a point.  I ended up checking and he showed J8o, but lately I've been looking at spots where it might be profitable to barrel turns and rivers.  I don't mind being a 1 barrel monkey against opponents like this when i miss, although it feels kind of weak just playing hands for value.  I'm sure theres better spots to be 2/3 barreling than this.

I think you can double barrel

I think you can double barrel and then give up if called. But if you just check to the river, then there is no point in rep a K, because nobody is gonna believe you. For my experience bluffing when either turn or river pair the board is a loosing move as most players think "oh now that the board has paired I am pretty sure he doesnt have that card". Conversely if you do make trips it's a good spot to overbet as they will think you are bluffing.
