  • dAsQ

  • Flop (160, 2 players)
  • hTsKd7
Hero checks, MRGOLD32 checks
  • Turn (160, 2 players)

  • River (390, 2 players)
  • s7
Hero checks, MRGOLD32 bets 200, Hero folds

  • Final Pot: 390

How do you think should I react here?  I don't know much about this player, only that he made a spewey play last match and stack off first hand.
The bet sizing on the river looks like a value bet. If he bet more towards the pot size I think I would have called that.

I think that you should be

I think that you should be cbetting this flop. Giving up the intiative is going to invite your opponent to bluff you off of your hand very frequently. If you aren't going to cbet the flop then I think you should be checking the turn to him. You are probably only going to push out worse hands when you bet here and you will still get called by all better. Furthermore, if he does have some kind of draw he will probably call then bluff you off of your hand when you check to him on the river.

I think that whether or not you call this river depends on how spewy the play he made last game was. If I think that he might check back something like J9 or 89 on the flop then I am inclined to call here. If I think that he is spewy enough that he would be calling the turn with 56 type hands then I would be more inclined to call. If I think that he would be playing all of these draws aggressively then I definitely fold because there shouldn't be many things we are beating in his range.
