What HUSNG Issue Should We Tackle First?
This thread is dedicated to coming up with our first big improvement idea.
My only preferences are that the idea is attainable (don't try to lower the hyper turbo rake on PokerStars) and important (a new game variant on a very small poker room isn't worth pursuing).
Use pokerscout for an idea of the total poker room traffic numbers, use our poker room buyin, rake and structure guide for HUSNG-specific info, and feel free to use the PokerStars Ideas thread, or my blog posts (1, 2, 3) that suggest improvements to poker rooms.
So what should our first improvement idea by for the HUSNG community?
All Pokerrooms have to allow HUSNGs as a part of their leaderboards / promotions. Often the risk of collusion is mentioned as a reason not to include HUSNG in promotions, but this argument is void for a couple of reasons:
1) To detect if someone is colluding or not, is part of the responsibility of the pokerroom. If not for such issues, for what are we actually paying rake?
2) Collusion is allways an issue - not only during promotions but it appears that as long as their are no extra costs, some pokerrooms rather wish to take advantage of the current (e.g. iPoker with the whole bot-issue) rather then investing money to keep the game clean.
3) Collusion is happending in all the SNG leader boards as well and their is currently a Cash-Game-collusion 'scandal' going on at iPoker as well.
Allowing HUSNG players to attend in promotions will increase their rake back and therefore reduce the effective rake (which still is too high).
Super turbos on ipoker def need work. Rake is 5%, I actually don't mind that it starts 75bb deep and blinds go up fast, but 5% is too much.
Hey,
Sorry for the double post. I just realized I posted in the wrong thread.
This is a great idea. I personally created all of the NLHE SNG structures, buy-ins, and rake for the Revolution Gaming network so if there's a really good idea there's a pretty good chance I can get it implemented there.
Speaking of, the Cake network (now Revolution) rake & structure information listed is extremely outdated.
Thanks & GL,
Jared

Is it just me or is the merge issue not posted in this thread? If you want us to tell our priorities, Ryan, an overview over the topics you chose from and did put merge on the top of your priority list would be highly appreciated.
Hi, I'll post my ideas for PokerStars now.
Leaderboard - do you think it will attract more new players or it will benefit the current ones? I think it is the second one but it's not bad at all and I like it.
However to attract non-husng players to husng I guess we need something called like King of the hill promotion.
Option 1) Players on the lower stakes should be able to qualify for let say the biggest match of their poker career. Give them opportunyto to play with someone popular. There are many players who would love that, just like in WSOP players love to get TV time ("woo hoo I'm on TV, my life is great now, I am cool and everyone knows me" - ROFL but people like that I guess :)). It can be with monthly schedule.
Option 2) Winners of the KOH get some kind of badges, new special stars or whatever. Don't you think that recreational players would love to have a badge which means - I knockout a Pro/Daniel Negreanu/Isildur1 or anyone else popular. Obviously everyone must have the option to show or not the badges he have.
Lets talk about $215 Weekly Heads Up MTT. Why is it important? Because it is the biggest HUMTT every week in online poker but still there are less than 200 people and first prize is like 8-9k (second is arround 5) which is not big money for anyone who can pay $215 to enter imo. And there are almost only that kind of players in there. So where are the satellites from which lower stakes players can qualify and lets say with 20$ to win 9k? There are almost no satellites so this tournament can't get richer and it will keep only the current pool of players. This is pretty sad for biggest HUMTT of the week I think. The structure also can be better.
Also what RyPac13 suggests to No Blinds Increase as improved structure seems pretty nice to me.
OK - so the first thing that really needs to be done is to make a promotion which attracts new players to the format. This is obviously what the poker rooms wants. Then we can go from there and try to get the other things to improve the game itself.
Is the Merge Super Turbo structure really that bad? I mean it does get to 7.5BBs pretty damn quick, which is obviously super shallow, but I kinda like the fact that it starts out at 30BBs as oppose to 25. What if once it got to 50/100 (15BBs) the blinds just stopped increasing? Or i guess you could add like one more level, maybe 35/70. Against some "recreationalists", that focus more on stack size than BBs, the 100/200 (7.5BBs) level can be great though.
I thought Revolution has the same structure as PS/FTP but not sure... If you added a level or two to Merge STs than the structure may even be better than the PS structure. Curious how much longer they'd take though
Are the rockets launched?
Are we currently pushing those topics?

Thanks Jared, we'll get that updated shortly.
