I haven't seen Slumdog, or Warrior I believe (unless you mean The Warriors, which is an awesome cult classic!), but I enjoyed every single other movie on that list when I saw them originally (not sure if I'd enjoy every single one as much today, tastes change, but growing up I was a film buff, age 12-18 or so, and many of those I found to be my favorites as well).
1 The Shawshank Redemption
2 Philadelphia

Jeez, 30 isn't much i reckon these lists change depending on where you're at at a given time. On another day I'd have West Side Story; Se7en; Pulp Fiction; Good the Bad and the Ugly; Rumblefish; The Deer Hunter; the Big Sleep; Grease; Blue Velvet; How to Draw a Bunny; Night of the Living Dead; Catch 22; Betty blue; La Haine; Casablanca; Take it or Leave it; Head; Easy Rider; Paris Texas; Jaws; Big Lebowski; Ratcatcher; The Enigma of Kasper Hauser; Accatone; Toy Story 2 & 3; Fanny and Alexander; Amarcord; The Unbelievable Truth; Mash; Grosse Point Blank; Do the Right Thing; The Usual Suspects; North By Northwest...jeez so many good movies out there.
Here ten more movies with directos i couldn't found on your (good) lists. No special order.
A night on earth (Jim Jarmusch)
Down by Law (Jim Jarmusch)
Lost Highway (David Lynch)
The Thin Red Line (Terrence Malick)
Badlands (Terrence Malick)
The Party (Blake Edwards)
True Romance (Tony Scott)
American Beauty (Sam Mendes)
In Bruges (Martin McDonagh)
Mystic River (Clint Eastwood)
Except for In Bruges (didn't like the clips i saw and I'm familiar with the writers work so didn't fancy it.)
The Party - I'll check that out. I really like Night on Earth and Down By Law i think i saw them at a triple bill with Stranger Than Paradise which was his first movie. Night On Earth was quite popular in Edinburgh and so stayed at the cinema for ages so i think i went to see it five times. Best thing Winona ever did was her bit with Gena Rowlands. Talking of which - never thought of Casavettes. But A Woman Under the Influence blew me away first time i saw it. And Killing of a Chinese Bookie is a really good movie too.
Mallick is a boss. I went to see Thin Red Line five times too. I dunno why but it's always five times for me at the cinema. And Badlands and Days of Heaven is a really cool double bill that was going about a few years ago. I really like Mystic River but its kinda tainted for me cos the guy who did the best acting in the movie never gets a mention. Bacon outshine Penn and Tim Robbins but they walked off with the Oscars. It's Bacon's performance that really gets me...dude's underrated cos he just gets it done...no over emoting or anything. Penn on the other hand - you know he's acting. He wants you to know he's acting.
30 is a bit long list but I can list a few of my top favs
The Shawshank Redemption
Goodfellas
12 Angry Men
The Green Mile
The Last Samurai
Scarface
Godfather
The Lord of the Rings
The Matrix
Forrest Gump
Contact
and there are many many moooore really great movies out there
never seen Pulp Fiction or Schindler's List and other popular movies which I def have to watch
Nice, lots of good movies in here. I saw Buffalo 66 again recently, that's a pretty good movie.
David Lynch! I think I'm going to watch something Lynch tonight, it's been awhile and his stuff always seems to blow my mind a bit.
I loved to kill a mockingbird when i was a child, rewatched it again and i still like it. Was a bit unfair all my life to my dad, because i wanted a father like Atticus Finch
Can't believe i forgot On The Waterfront. Never tire of watching it. Always spot something new. Obviously the scene in the back of the cab with Steiger is Genius but all the way through the movie scene after scene, just pure gold. One of the first mopvies that made me yearn to go to New York. I don't think there will ever be a better screen actor than Brando. Sure he let it slip towards the end but most of them do.
Re: 12 Angry Men - Sidney Lumet kinda of flies under the radar when people talk about great Directors but he worked fast and often moved from genre to genre and along the way made some belters. Serpico; 12 Angry Men; Network; Dog Day Afternoon (John Cazale is unreal in that movie, gives Pacinio plenty to bounce off but not in an obvious way); The Hill; Equus; The friggin Wiz and so on and his last movie Before the Devil Knows You're Dead is really really good and no one went to see it, even though it had Albert Finney; Phillip Seymour Hoffman; Marisa Tomei and Ehtan Hawke (for the ladies) in it. Although to be fair Hoffman banging Tomei from behind was odd to watch.
I cant rank them, but those are one of my very favorites:
Drama
1. American beauty 2. Midnight in Paris. 3. Jerry Maguire 4. Black Swan 5. Million dollar baby 6. Forrest Gump

1. Casablanca 2. A walk to remember. 3 Titanic
Romantic comedies
1. 40 years old virgin 2. I love you, man 3. Crazy, stupid, love 4. Bridesmaids 5. Knight and Day

Films for teenagers
1. Keith (great movie!) 2. Project X
Screenplay/Idea
1. Looper 2. A Beautiful Mind 3. Ruby Sparks 4. Extremely loud and inncredibly close 5. Jeff, who lives at home 6. Invention of Lying (Ricky Gervais is awesome visioneer:)
Motivational
1. The Pursuit of Happiness 2. The King's Speech 3. Aviator
