jam the river or check?

No Limit Holdem Tournament • 2 Players Hand converted by the official HUSNG.com hand converter BBHero1070  BTNU_R_Soul1930  Effective Stacks: 36bb Blinds 15/30 Pre-Flop (45, 2 players) Hero is BB U_R_Soul raises to 60, Hero calls 30 Flop (120, 2 players) Hero checks, U_R_Soul bets 60, Hero raises to 180, U_R_Soul calls 120 Turn (480, 2 players) Hero bets 240, U_R_Soul calls 240 River (960, 2 players) Hero bets 590, U_R_Soul folds Final Pot: 1550 Hero wins 1550 ( won +480 ) U_R_Soul lost -480The villain is not very aggressive in a normal pot he is a bit fit or fold but I have also seen him turn up with some random floats make some spewy plays. My question is on this river would I be better of checking here and calling any bet from him, I don't really see what he could call me with on this river apart from a flush or maybe a Kx on Tx he hit from a float if I'm going to get it in would it be better to let him bet?

A lot of hands that take this

A lot of hands that take this line will be 2X 3X 6X where the X is either 4 or 5 for a gutshot. Since this is a pretty brutal river for those hands I'd be inclined to bet a bit smaller and try to suck them in - probably like 240.Against someone that you know will hero call you in spots like this a big bet might be ok (because this is a great board to triple barrel bluff) but against a player with this description (that is probably turning up with just a low pair here most of the time) I think a tiny bet is optimal.

Thanks man

Thanks man if you bet tiny would you then be calling a shove as well?

I like a bigger bet on the

I like a bigger bet on the turn, the boards really wet and I think you'll get away with 300 or more. If you're betting small on the river and your opponent shoves i think it comes down to reads. How do you think he'd play his FDs? Is he ever bluffing? Would he ever shove worse for value? But looking at your chipstack on the river you're probably commiited to calling a shove.
