Intervew with Eric "paddygo" Sullivan

Charles Hawk: Are you still playing only husng turbos? Any thoughts about transitioning to hypers?

Eric "paddygo" Sullivan: I think the future is in Spins and Goes. But stakes are capped at 100 so it is kind of a turn down.

Charles Hawk: When we talked more than 1.5 years ago, you wrote that your goals for 2014 are: “is try to be the most happy I can for the longer period of time. Pokerwise I would like to play more and play good.“ What are your goals for 2016? :)

Eric "paddygo" Sullivan: As regards my last goals I achieved a ton of happiness during that period, and travelled a ton. Pokerwise I should play more.

Eric "paddygo" Sullivan: For 2016 my goal is just to be happy, and make people around myself be happy

Charles Hawk: How long do you play SPINS? What are your results so far?

Eric "paddygo" Sullivan: I played like 2-3 months, but studied with resources a ton the 3 handed game. Plus Martin, a guy who plays 6 max and is a crusher, helped me a ton.

Eric "paddygo" Sullivan: My results are pretty good I guess, like 50 chip ev per game or smth like that.

Charles Hawk: What was your first opinion about population tendencies when you started and how it changed over time?

Eric "paddygo" Sullivan: Do not look that much into population tendencies, I just started from there to develop my default strategy but after a while I just adjust to my opponents.

Charles Hawk: Describe the biggest leaks of Spin population tendencies?

Eric "paddygo" Sullivan: The biggest leak I think is 3 handed play from the SB against BU mr. People do not realize how defined is there ranges. Not going to expand on that, but I explain it pretty well in my videos.

Charles Hawk: What are your main leaks in SPINS which you are willing to improve in 2016? How many tables are you able to comfortably play at once?

Eric "paddygo" Sullivan: I think my main leak is sometimes autopiloting and I want to improve my focus during games. I used to play 3-4 tables at once. 4 is kind of anoying because timebank from the BU does not activate itself.

Charles Hawk: What is the biggest differences playing 3 handed vs 2 handed? What are the differences between a heads up game in Spins and a husng match?

Eric "paddygo" Sullivan: The biggest difference is that 3 handed you play against a much stronger range and you can fold more preflop :)

Eric "paddygo" Sullivan: I think that hu in spins you have to take less variance lines, like for instance limping almost your whole range to begin with against an unknown until you start developing reads. Whereas in a heads up turbo when end game you can comfortably know if min raising is better.

Charles Hawk: Write me please your thoughts about PS RB changes in 2016. How it will affect the industry?

Eric "paddygo" Sullivan: It is pretty bad for the raleback pro, and it would increase players level I think. It is the same for the industry, Pokerstars just want to make more money themselves.

Charles Hawk: How do you see the online poker future and yourself in it?

Eric "paddygo" Sullivan: I am already doing pretty good outside of poker and my plan is to retire in the next 4 years. But I like competition, so it is going to be hard to retire. As soon as I play I would again make everything to become good hahahaha.

Charles Hawk: You wrote that for 2016 your goal "is just to be happy, and make people around myself be happy". How will you try to achieve that? Especially making people around yourself happy? Is it only relatives, friends, neighbours etc. or do you see "making people around you happy" in a broader sense? Describe your philosophy about it as full and understandable as possible please.

Eric "paddygo" Sullivan: I just try to help anyone who needs help, most of the time offering money help (but just to people or animals who are not able to get money or other resources by themselves, I would not give money to someone who can work and is just lazy. I would rather help an old or too young person, who is not able to work). My life is philosophy is just to consider if doing some action that makes you happy, how much can make other peoples not happy and if it is worth doing it. There are sometimes that you have to evaluate if it is good for everyone in equilibrium.

Eric "paddygo" Sullivan: And for instance always try to smile to random people on the street, they would feel a little bit happier and it does not cost you anything.

Eric "paddygo" Sullivan: Just try to do small gestures to people on a daily basis.

Charles Hawk: What do you do besides poker? Is it investing? Tell me and the community what you can to tell.

Eric "paddygo" Sullivan: I bought 2 appartments with 2 friends and made 30% ROI in 2 months in dollars. I also have some money invested in the market, and I am staking and coaching a few guys.

Charles Hawk: Is you happiness EV concept is in any sense related with Christianity?

Eric "paddygo" Sullivan: Actually I have no religion right know, my only religion is try to bring happiness to as many people and as much as I can. I think that it does not matter your religion as long as you are a good person
