HU HT 2€ - 25BB deep - KQs OOP - what action ?

Hi guys,

Just curious about this hand I played yesterday.

HUHT micro 2€

1st hand --> 25BB deep

100% readless

I get KQs in BB

Villain open shove

What would you do ?

What do the "general tendencies of the unknown micro population" say about it ?

Thanks

Hi there pierrelo I'd

Hi there pierrelo

I'd probably fold. Villain is likely to have some sort of ace; even if it's only ace rag we are behind. Low pocket pair is also a strong possibility, again we would be behind. Villain needs to be shoving an awful lot for KQs to be a call for 25bbs.

Hope this helps

Thanks Adam. Sounds wise to

Thanks Adam.

Sounds wise to fold indeed.

To be honest on this one, the guy was so quick at open shoving that I immediately called, almost as a "reflex" ;)

The guy showed 67off and lost the game.

No idea why I called that quick, as I immediately acknowledged this was a mistake and that I was behind, even against a wide range of open shove.

Anyway, the guy accepted the revenge and confirmed he was not quite clear on playing HU HTs (the revenge lasted 4 hands before he was out...)

More seriously, I am facing quite a number of players at these stakes who will directly open shove the very first hand of the game.

Is this a known "trend" in micro limits HUHT ? What exactly is the point of shoving the first hand when you will be called only by hands that beat you ? (except for donks lilke me who cannot control their finger...)

Bye

im calling this though im

im calling this though im probably folding KQo  untill i know more

if villian is shoving QQ-22, A2s+, KTs+, QTs+, JTs, A2o+, KTo+, QJo (which is 25% without AA or KK)

then calling range should be 44+, A7s+, KQs, A9o+

and since so many people still go into HU hypers tilted and jam 1st hand random i think pop tendancies can be wider at tims so im calling taking note of the hand he showed up with and hope for a rematch.

I agree with 4 Card

I agree with 4 Card Brett, I’m calling and adjusting for future games.

I will have a look tonight at open shove freq of first hand, though my sample is small at 500 games at 2 euro limit on Ipoker. I do tend to feel that when I do manage to hit a hand I call that open shove with the villain normally has junk, which means I could  expand my calling range but I would prefer to keep it how it is knowing that "hopefully" I can gain a bigger edge playing.
