Bet Sizing ?

Hi,

1st match against unknown.

My reads on villain so far are MR 1st hand, folded to 3bet.

Next button he opens 3x, I fold trash.

Next button for me I open 3x to keep pots the same size when I’m in position in case this becomes his default opening size.

With a couple of mutual folds in between were now at hand 7.

I limp in with 8To as Ive been pushing aggressively for every chip in the in the previous hands and think Im about to over do it and back off a little.

Have no reads to say thats the best action, but experience tells me I can back off momentarily and apply full pressure in a few hands time with more credit.

Villain 3bets and I call.

I flop top pair but the flop is wet with straight draw and flush draw possibilities. and villain checks.

I bet 50 to protect against over cards floating and to try and gauge if Villain is drawing to a SD/FD.

Is my bet sizing here correct  ( To protect ) Or should I be betting smaller to induce ?

River comes a 9h and now I bet under half pot ( The opposite of what I was thinking on the flop as although my SD is developing, so is any Heart FD. )

Whats your advice on bet sizing and thoughts on aggression or passivity in this spot ?

River comes and Ace and I bet 20.

If I bet 1/2 - 3/4 pot and he calls i’m most probably beat.

If I bet under 1/2 pot I think my Image is presumed as weak and he will jam over.

If I bet 20, he will call with showdown value high card or out of curiosity.

If he jams over the 20 I think he has missed SD/FD, maybe has a 9 but maybe Air I would be tempted to Call the jam. ( An Ace i think he might CR NAI here? ).

Kind of mediocre spot where i’m just not really sure on all streets if i’m thinking correctly or choosing defence/passivity in the right way ???

Hi, Clearly the flop is

Hi,
Clearly the flop is yours, the limp-callers kind of board  The turn bet is fine, but you'll have to give it up, I suspect, if in the unlikely event of being significantly check-raised.
You are putting yourself in a tangle with the river bet I would say, particularly as you don't know his game . He has raised pf and not led out on the flop, suggesting he does not have a weaker pair that yours with which you might hope to get a call (you would certainly expect him to try and shut the pot down pretty often if he has connected with the lower pairs - Ax is a worry given the river).  If he check-raises you on the river, it might smell fishy but he could be there, check raising, with a number of hands that beat yours if he sense weakness. It would be a real struggle to call.  In addition, by checking you guarantee to see the cards of an opponent of whom you know very little.
