This next guy must not play shortstacks often because he has almost $1/game on tableratings over 60k games.

anauna says:

are you mainly playing HU cash games recently?

do you think are there a huge difference between HUSNG and HU cash?

do you think that a good HUSNG player play HUCASH as well?

WBR's picture

WBR says:

One more question: xSCWx, do you think it's profitable to play HU cash with short stack? I mean cash players think that all shortstakers are bad and going crazy, as your opponents in these hands?

Skates says:

So funny that this came up today.  I shortstacked HU cash all night last night... Ran $940 below all-in EV, but that's what happens when you're all-in 10% of hands.

xSCWx's picture

xSCWx says:

I think I can safely say that I've picked up the EV slack for you, skates. 36BB/100 over 1k hands (+$7k) on tableratings! I find that the vast majority of players at 5/10 are beyond awful 20BB deep, but most of them become decent at 30BB+ deep. Fortunately, some don't become good at 30BB and a smaller selection of them are too tilted by the time you hit 30BB deep for it to matter.

It is definitely profitable, but it can be hard to get action sometimes. It might be easier to get games at the the lower stakes, but then again rake might become a factor in the lower stakes as well.

As far as differences between HU cash and HUSNG - I think that it is pretty much the same game except that your stack gets deeper as the game progresses instead of shallower. A lot of these guys could probably crush me 100BB deep, so I try to be careful to draw the line when we start to get close.
