Hello 2010

It's been a while since my last update, so here it goes :)
Vacation
I went home to visit friends/family back home in Switzerland over Xmas...and then went snowboarding for 3 weeks. Awesome, poker-free time, with tons of powder snow and quality time with my bro. Bellow are a few pics that say it all...

Exams
I totally slacked in preparing for the exams upon my return. Still think I passed all of them, but I should have probably put in a bit more effort. If I have to resit one or two, so be it...not really bothered by it. I'm not going for a graduate position, so grades won't matter as long as I get that friggin' diploma.
Poker
I just finished my exams last week, and I haven't really played at all up intil 3 days ago. Since then, I've played around 120 games single tabling. Before leaving, I played the $25s, and felt pretty comfortable doing so. Instead of 2-tabling I decided to 1 table, and mix in higher stakes. So now I play anything from $25 to $72. Not super happy with the results yet (bit above breakeven), but at least my HEM EV line goes straight up...and the variance has been pretty nasty to me. Not worried though, it's a small sample.
Anyway, I started benefiting a lot from multichat apart from being psychologically scarred by placenta talk. I always wanted children, but I'm not so sure anymore. The thing it helped me most is to leave behind the static/robotic playstyle. It's a necessary step to beat higher stakes imo, even if trying different moves can backfire sometimes. You live and learn I guess...
I also started having some more regular sessions against Micky, Primo's other student. It's a great way to learn for both of us. We tend to move down to the $3 stakes, and try to level ourselves. It's not only a great learning experience, but also a ton of fun. It's probably the cheapest way to try new moves against a good, thinking player.
As for 2010 goals:
- Study a lot of poker strategy.
- Continue to participate in strategy discussions here, on 2+2, and in multichat.
- Make $ for me and Primo.
- Become a $110 reg, and become comfortable at 2 tabling the $110 stakes.
- Move up to the $220 stakes sometimes in the 2nd half of the year.
I won't break out in tears if I fail in terms of the last goal. It's just something I set myself as a challenge, because I know that the first few goals should be totally doable :)
