Super Turbos on Black Chip Poker - Daily Play with Pics!

Welcome to my super turbo thread!

I play on Black Chip Poker from time to time and this goal will mainly be to motivate me to find the time to play more regularly and to have some extra fun along the way.

- A little bit about me. I co-own and manage this site.

- I live here

Denver_Poker_Mountains

More pictures to come, plus hands, the occasional video too.

It's late, so I only played five games. Won 2, then lost 3. Here are some notable hands:

Basic call, he was an active bettor in general, early streets with his strength from what I could tell, so his range has a lot of bluffs/missed draws in it

Hey Ryan gl in your challenge. It should be very interesting to follow your pg&c thread. Btw I thought you lived in Chicago

Thanks.My girlfriend and I

Thanks.
My girlfriend and I moved from Chicago to Denver last summer. Loving it here. Bought a bank owned house for a good deal and have been remodeling it for the last 8 months or so. Basically, the buying market for houses that need a lot of work is lesser, so you can sometimes get a really good deal on a house if you have the time, patience and investment into updating the house. It's sort of like people that buy houses, fix them up, then resell or rent them, except we plan to live here for years to come.

Had a rare rainy day here, so I didn't get out. Here's a picture I took when first visiting Colorado. It's of Red Rocks, this music venue about 15 minutes away in the tip of the mountains. People visit here and exercise every day. The first time we visited, we were in Denver maybe 48 hours. Walking up from the bottom is maybe a equivalent of 100 steps or so. We were out of breath, had just made it up the ramps to get to the bottom of the amphitheater and we see all these people running back and forth, up and down. Just a giant "f u" to our unadjusted to the elevation bodies (it's about 1700 meters above sea level in Denver and maybe 2000-2500m here).
Looking forward to catching a show or two here this summer, the acoustics are supposed to be excellent.

Played a few games before and during the Memphis Grizzlies victory over the OKC Thunder (I'm rooting for Memphis, but picked OKC in 7).
Hands
I'm not sure what he was doing here. I'd seen him slow play big hands in spots you'd normally bet a little stronger on early streets, so I felt his bluff % was fairly high on the turn (and river didn't change much).

Hand 1, n1 :D Hand 2, limp

Hand 1, n1 :D
Hand 2, limp pre rather than open shove.
Hand 3 limp pre is best too, but close to open shove (not sure what your intention was before misclicking).
Hand 4 need reads of very wide minr compared to population to flat pre as the population tends to be pretty nitty with minr range at this depth and Q3o is really junky

Hand 5 limp pre.

Nice to see you grinding again, looking forward to more of your updates :)

Thanks for the feedback. H1 -

Thanks for the feedback.
H1 - Do you limp 86o default at these stacks? I haven't been playing a ton, but I find guys too nitty at this level and always open jammed 7.5bb deep with 86o, and if someone shows they call light enough a limp would be superior. But I could be wrong if limp expectation is good enough here.
H3 - I was open jamming.
H4 - You're almost certainly right. I don't recall reads indicating the guy was opening every hand, and I notice the same thing as you say you do (and your noticing is built on data I'm sure, mine is not). So that makes sense. I just overdid it a bit probably here, one of my biggest leaks a few years back playing supers was folding too much OOP at these stacks but this seems a bit of an overadjustment and that makes sense.
H5 - I wasn't getting 3bet much at all (I think two min 3b, one with AT, one I did not see hand) and felt good post. Limp could still be better, but minraise wasn't getting owned by 3bets, so I bet it's close if not fine to MR in that situation.
Thanks again, I'm definitely rusty on some things. Limping range preflop, particularly the 8-14bb area is something I need to get better with again. I've seen a few more mistakes than I'd like in my postflop game too, but it's stuff I immediately recognize so I think I'll improve there pretty quickly as long as I keep playing.

Session Update

Rained again today, what the heck? And my Bulls got crushed by 37 points, ouch!
No hands tonight, but I want to talk a bit about taking notes.
I had a very weak opponent tonight play a few games against me. The type that just folds in way too many places and waits for hands, not really what you want to do in any heads up format.
Anyways, I remember way back to early 2007 when I started playing and I took notes to the extreme, making tons of notes on opponents. Over time, as I improved, I realized that many of those notes were poorly done, too vague or just showed one hand with no context. I kept taking notes, but they were now more wordy.
These days, I'm thinking the best policy is going to be to simply note any major piece of information that would help a person if they were to open up the match, see my note and play an opponent. Something like "plays weak everywhere" would be beneficial, where as "3bets A9" would be a waste of words.
If/when I play more and move back up to limits where I'll face good regs in longer battles, I think deep notes can be much more helpful, along with a HUD. Tourney summaries don't work right for hypers on Black Chip as far as I know with PT, so I don't think I can use a HUD currently or record any graphs, but I'll have a closer look if/when I play more frequently, since it's not very important as long as I'm just doing a little session per day at the $36s.
So that's about all I have on notes thoughts, what do you guys do about notes and what thoughts do you have on them?

Had a weird day of really

Had a weird day of really terrible players. Made some extra time though while waiting for a meeting (who never showed up!) and probably got in 30-40 games. 3 distinct guys that actually did rematch me though, with vastly different playstyles. One guy was very loose preflop and incredibly weak postflop. Those games went well.
I had a longer rematch session with this sort of random buttons guy. First, his timing indicated he didn't really think about stuff. Things like him 3betting me to 100, then tank folding on a jam. He 4x raised A6 at 9bb. His pre and postflop actions were vastly different. He limp called Q7o at 12bb to a jam (I hadn't even been aggressive in that spot at the time). There was other stuff, basically it all indicated he was just splashing around, which is cool, but also kinda bizarre (you can't see mucked cards on BCP, so you can be a little in the dark for longer against some guys like this). I eventually identified a few similar patterns and exploited what I could and just tried to play solid. It was going fairly well but he took the last 4 to contributed to a good bit of the day's losses.
My last villain was a complete maniac, which are always fun. I love being able to make the adjustments that you really need to make against the crazy aggressive opponents. A long time ago these guys were so scary and would rattle me, but it's like how I used to feel about weak tight players... these maniac nutso guys just make me feel really happy to be playing. Unfortunately, he hit a bunch of hands and won 4 in a row, then I finally took one and he quit. So it goes.
Anyways, fun day of games again, though I'm not happy I'm up so late yet again and didn't even get the meeting done!
I'll try to get some pics or vid or hands up tomorrow to add some interest here, shoot a message if you're reading and have anything interesting to say.

Pretty standard for players

Pretty standard for players to rematch you as they're winning then insta quit when you win one. I also play on winning network but play the turbos.  I use PT3 and its
pretty much worthless.  It usually only imports 2/3 of the tounrneys I play a month and 4 tabling is a joke as the stats of other players are everywhere because winning
summaries cant support more than one table.  But its still better than nothing imo.  Denver looks gorgeous and I can't wait until I make it out there to see a show at red
rocks. Gl with the super turbos on BCP, you will definitely crush them.

RyPac13's picture
Yea, the "win til you lose

Yea, the "win til you lose one" never changes since these rematches were invented, heh.
I'll talk some more with BCP and ACR about fixing PT importing. I believe it's on the network's end (your summary comment seems to indicate that as well).
Yes, Denver is really beautiful. It's fairly clean for a major city, laid out very well and there are lots of unobstructed bike paths, state parks, mountains nearby and all sorts of outdoor activities.
Thanks, GL to you on the turbos as well. I might see you in those in the higher levels once I get some more games in, I assume I'll have to sit both turbos and supers as I move up to get enough action.

Friday Night Session

Bulls lost again. Lost composure, but probably weren't in this one anyways given how well Heat played in the 4th. Anyone else watching NBA playoffs? It was nice to see the Spurs play as well as they should. I thought they would've won it all last year the way they played the first two rounds and two games against OKC, then they sort of came undone and never recovered. They haven't achieved that in the playoffs this year, but I think they still have that potential. They're one of my favorite teams to watch when they are clicking, the ball movement and team defense, they just get one good shot after another on offense and I think those %s add up and can beat any team's strategy when SA is executing their offensive system.
A few poker thoughts
- Timing. I want to get back to playing very fast. I'm a firm believer in playing as fast as you can while still making good decisions. For one, I want my 10-25bb play to see as many hands as possible. Second, the faster you play, the less time your opponent has to contemplate decisions. The less time your opponent is forced to sit there and (likely) think about the hand more, the worse a decision they are likely to make.
- Sort of about timing, but playing more tables + faster really gets you so many more hands in and it really (at least for me) numbs you to the variance.
- I've just always enjoyed the ST format being so fast you just have time to focus on opponents and decisions really. That's a very strong point of the structure to me. If you're having trouble handling variance, try not to dwell, you might be surprised at how non tilting STs can be compared to the impossible to ignore "lost a huge 2 buyin pot in hu cash after waiting for action for an hour" situations.
- Almost declined my first rematch today. Guy was playing so slow, taking 3+ seconds each decision and it was annoying. Then he min 4bet/called a jam with J2o. I hit accept. He played faster for a few more games before quitting.
- Not declining is not some sort of brag. I'm playing $36s and not on PS. I'm not going to find Serkules sitting around here, and if I do find a good player it'll be great to play a different type of player and have to adjust differently than I have been.
- On that note, I haven't found a reg yet. Not even one. I usually sit first, because the lobby is open, but if a player quits me I just open up a new lobby. A few times someone has been sitting first, but they have clearly been non regs each time (and not in a "oh he's not good" type way, these were not regular players in any sense). Action seems a bit too good for there not to be any regs, though I don't expect any 3-4 tabling solid players to be playing on BCP and/or at $36s. I, myself, am only 1 tabling until I shake the rust off.
*I wrote the above right before eating a late night snack. I saw a lobby occupied afterwards and I resumed play. Ended up playing 6 games vs a solid player, first reg! Was nice to see a good aggressive opponent, really enjoyed those games.
- It's a little frustrating the way showdown hands work. If I check back a river, it just shows the winner's hand, you never see mucked cards and the loser is auto mucked. It's probably smart from a poker room's perspective. Reduce edges where people are less likely to complain, keep other stuff (rakeback, rake, speed, structure, rematch button) good and competitive. Not sure if that was the intention on Winning Network (probably not), but it makes some sense if it went down like that. But yea, it makes it a bit tougher to get good reads and to play as exploitive as I'd like. I don't know if I normally adjust too fast to players, ahead of the bayesian curve, so to speak, but I always felt good about my adjustments early and you just see a lot less information early when you can't see the losing player's showdown. I definitely make sure to say "nice hand" or "damn unlucky" any time someone shows me their hand, it's something I always like to encourage, one of the few times worth typing anything to an opponent (outside of negotiating more tables or moving up if they offer, perhaps a slight needle if they are being a jerk and are ready to blow up, but that's a riskier gamble on being worth the effort of the chatbox).
- I'll be working more on my default game/good solid fundamentals over the next week or two. The most important thing is to find the time (usually super late it seems) to play every day, but after that it will be studying some good solid fundamental hyper play. Probably review some Mers videos, book, Hokie's new pack and some Coffeeyay vids. Those three guys operate on unbiased facts as well as anyone I've seen teaching hypers before (including many private coaches that never made videos). I might spread out from there, but that's what I'll go back to first (I watch everything that comes out, but not as intensely when I'm not playing regularly).
Here are a pair of hands.
I had a few non showdown pots won with aggression against this guy. Would've been cooler to see a Qx or Jx, but I'll take it.

How is the traffic on Black Chip Poker?

Hi.

RyPac13's picture

It's not bad. I think 75% of the time i get a game fairly quick. 25% of the time I have to wait a bit. It's better than you'd expect given the pokerscout #s (we don't have SNG traffic #s for networks like Winning, Merge or Revolution).
But I'm only one tabling, maybe if I played 2-4 tables (that's what I used to like for supers, more if it's vs same person too... 2 tables for turbos) it would be different.
Then again, I'm also only playing the $36 hyper lobby. If I expanded into other stakes I might also find some more action. If I had to play 6 hours a day, I would probably be semi concerned that action will be too sporadic at the $100 levels in the future and I might have to play 2 or 3 sites to get volume, but I'm not sure that is even true.

I agree about the HHs. I'll see if I can maybe record a few individual hands on the replayer, upload to youtube and share in the thread that way or something.
I'll probably get a video going soon too. I'm reviewing a turbo speed on the new Ultimate Poker skin (first USA regulated skin, in Nevada) for a buddy this week, it'll be posted on the site.
But I'll definitely start making some BCP super turbo videos, I just need to get some more games in before I do that.

Ran fairly well today. Played

Ran fairly well today. Played about the same level I've been playing, OK but a ways to go before I'm happy with where I'm at. This one player today played me, rematched me once or twice, then declined. For the next 90 minutes he'd sit me, we'd play, he would decline rematch, but then sit me 2-4 minutes later. It was weird. He wasn't an angry guy or a reg or anything either (he complimented a hand, otherwise was silent in chat, not likely tilting either). Seemed like weird behavior, but who knows, some people are superstitious about things too (I can just picture a guy sitting there "Every time I accept I seem to lose, so I'll trick the poker gods by waiting 2 or 4 minutes, never an odd number, and then sit!"). Not sure where we ended up on the day against each other, but I don't think it worked for him.
Ok, here's a test format for hands. I can reasonably do this with one or two interesting hands every session or two if you guys like this format better. This is a test, so not particularly interesting, but a reflection of how the day seemed to go. Let me know if you like this format over pasting hands, thanks.

He bet 305 into 310 I think? So wasn't overbet... I haven't played regs at this level in a while but I'm assuming he's thinking pretty straightforward like "this is a bad turn to barrel, so I should slow down with bluffs, etc.." so I wouldn't expect him to have too many bluffs in his range after turn. I think river is a fold... If he's seen you call down with bottom pair twice then he has to thin up his value range... And he pretty much always v bets Kx and 6x anyway

RyPac13's picture
He'd seen me get to showdown

He'd seen me get to showdown passively (IE no bets) with bottom pair twice. It didn't seem like a spot where a halfway perception opponent would really look at bottom pair as being a large part of my range given that info.

I didn't get any games in today. Yardwork early and then picked up Skates from the airport and caught up. I'll get to some games tomorrow though.

Had a late night session last

Had a late night session last night with Skates. I tried a bunch of ridiculous strategies that we were having fun over. Not so fun was that we lost 6 buyins!
We played some disc golf up in the mountains during the day with his brother and father. I'd never been before, it was more enjoyable than expected.

I'll see if I can make it

I'll see if I can make it happen, but he leaves in like 11 hours and we have to sleep + do a few things in the morning, so we'll see if it works out.
He's very rust though, would probably need to play a solid few days and think about some stuff to really get back to his value (relative to what it was), but hell, we'll post it free if we can get one in.
Totally agreed about all your points as well.

wow that forest looks BEAUTIFUL!! loveeeeeee disc golf moved from RI to FL 5 years ago miss mountains and forest up north. more pics please!

The picture of the disc

The picture of the disc golf.... that hole was one of the two most wide open. Everything else was basically in a forest. Pretty tough as far as I can tell, versus the wide open spaces. Will post more pics of outdoor stuff though, definitely! Florida is nice. But no mountains and high humidity are definitely downsides. No water here in Denver, but pretty much everything else seems to rock.

Did not have any time to play

Did not have any time to play today. Went hiking up in Boulder for a few hours with Skates and a friend he knows up here. Had lunch at this country style Japanese place. Not exactly sure what that means, but the food was great (spicy maguro tuna and grilled calamari in sesame oil to start, and some chili bean paste type soup dish with pork and tofu in it... a few sides of various vegetables and noodles that were also tasty).
Here's a pic of the area we hiked in (forgot my camera, so these are stock photos of the trails/mountain we hiked).

(above) This is the view from the top. I assume this is taken from a climber's perspective at the very top. We did not go this high. The city below is Boulder. It looks tiny in this picture, but it's a solid 75k+ population in this picture. The orange area in the middle is the University of Colorado - Boulder campus.

Also, this is pretty damn well done and hilarious. I appear to be about the 14th million person to see it.

Games tomorrow night.

Played a session a little

Played a session a little earlier. A lot of spewing from the opponents, limp call 6bb with 65o, silly bluffs, weird lines, etc. Fun stuff. Did fairly well, so that's nice. I really need to set aside some time to watch some videos this weekend though.
It's been difficult to manage time with HUSNG work, plus SitnGoGrinders (we recently acquired) and a bunch of house work stuff (working on setting up a garden and other landscaping). I went today to finalize plans for my brewing stand. A local welder is building me a custom stand. It'll cost 25-35% of what they usually cost new, so that's great (plus it's custom built to my specs). I can't wait to get brewing beer again.
Bulls are out of the playoffs, so that should free up a few hours here or there.
I really didn't see any interesting hands in the 10-15 matches that I played. It really was typical games vs spewy players, and a lot of fast playing stuff from others (had a lot of rematches vs two guys that were not tricky, creative or passive at all, and nothing really came up that was worth posting).
Since there's no poker hands, here's some content for you guys. Floyd Mayweather, our generations likely best boxer. I was talking to a poker player from Germany recently, he was watching Klitschko destroy some undermatched sap. We were talking a bit about boxing and he hadn't even seen Mayweather. That surprised me. Mayweather made something like 33 million this month in his most recent fight. But I got to thinking, Klitschko will make over 20 million I believe in his next fight. Perhaps he is more popular over in Europe, and Mayweather is more popular here in the USA. I could be wrong, it's not direct evidence of that statement, but in case any of you non USA guys haven't seen Mayweather, he's a brilliant boxer.

Thanks for the Mayweather

Thanks for the Mayweather video! Though he won't get a fair play award for his fight vs Ortiz....It's a pity that we won't see him boxing against my favourite, Manny Pacquiao...:(
So u are into beer brewing too, it amazes me how u find time for soo many things. Please, post pics about ur beer brewing equipment!

RyPac13's picture
No problem, watching him box

No problem, watching him box is definitely a treat. I agree about Ortiz, that was shady. I was out watching that one live and I really thought he might get disqualified, but it seems the ref was incredibly incompetent for that one. Sad, because Ortiz wasn't doing bad at all, though I expected Mayweather to win, it was not a bad fight.
I'll post pics of the entire setup once it is complete. The welder should be done within a week and will drop it off. I have the rest of the equipment here, so I'll set it all up, clean it out and probably get ready for a test run of beer on it.
Yea, I've got too many projects. I'm like 5 hours away from completing my first board game, then I'll send it away to get made. I have a few dozen used books and movies I've accumulated in the last few months and haven't gotten around to either, heh. I guess I'll never be bored.

What does "-144" stand for?
How can you know jack about hockey...such a beautifull sport.

Hi.

RyPac13's picture
It means you have to risk

It means you have to risk $144 to win $100 if you bet on USA.
I mean, I don't watch like national hockey, I rarely even watch hockey within my own country, unless I'm at a game. I just enjoy the sport a lot more live.
Seems USA did lose though, so gg. But the stories say things like "USA stunned" and "USA upset." Stunned seems a bit dramatic, but it's media headlines, so kind of standard.

Barrin's picture
Ahh all right then. Betting

Ahh all right then. Betting on Switzerland would had been nice thing then. Damn. Should had done it.
Regarding the news; I think it was the way you lost and not that you lost at all. But the media in Switzerland were not less surprised how the Swiss dominated the US.

Hi.

RyPac13's picture
Had a good day at the tables,

Had a good day at the tables, played a short session before dinner then for a few hours after. Played a guy that would not be beating the $1 levels on any site, he rematched a good 30 times today.  He was very loose preflop, but had the worst postflop strategy. He would cbet 100% of flops and fold to raises if he missed, but he would min cbet size his weaker pairs, so his half pot cbet was incredibly weak and very easy to find great spots to play back against.
OOP, he also called very wide preflop, but he actually led the flop quite often when he paired... he was very loose with weak draws (he'd call a hand like 32s on A4JQ vs two barrels, for example), just over calling all sorts of gutshot type weak hands all day. So it was easy to pick spots where he could be pushed out of a pot, while also easy to value town. He paid no attention to bet sizing... by game 5 or 6 I was just a ridiculous face up monster of a player, he did not adjust at all.
He rarely 3bet shoved or open jammed, when he did he showed up with a strong hand (except one time, he 3bet called 72 or 73 on the first hand of the game... weird). So that was a nice treat.
A few other guys were bad, one or two were good, but most games came against this really bad player.
Looking forward to studying a bit this weekend, but I think playing is helping me get back into the swing of things. I'm making better decisions overall, though I still have a ways to go. I hope to move up and start making some videos in the next few weeks. Every game in this thread has been $36 hypers, singled tabled.
Getting late, so I'll just leave you all with this classic picture of PHMERC (it's the best thing I could find and post in here from my pictures folder). Some friends of him literally called him a donkey for posting this when he did way back when, they said it made him looks stupid and weak, but I thought it was a cool photo. Dude is riding a donkey!

Action kinda stunk tonight

Action kinda stunk tonight (surprisingly). I kept getting screwed by the buggy rematch button. There were 4 or 5 times when myself and my opponent both accepted and it declined, and the way the night went they had won most of those games. This is almost certainly a rematch button bug. I'll see if the skins are aware of it, maybe we can get that fixed.
Should play (and study) more tomorrow. Not much time today, did some yard work, site work, went for a walk and worked on my board game a bit.
Here's a spot from the session. I'll cut off the decision and let people discuss. Chime in, even if you're noob, it's all good, friendly discussion about the spot is good.

Started tonight's session off

Started tonight's session off against a guy who recognized me. We played 3 games and he seemed pretty solid (if you're around, pop in and say hi, start your own thread, etc.).
My next opponent was really fun to play. He wasn't bad, it wouldn't surprise me if he beat the $36s, but I did manage to spot a few leaks against his mostly stagnant style and enjoyed our games. I went 9-10 unfortunately (he gave me a few extra because he sucked out a few in a row, nice guy), but it was good games. His strengths were that he bet a lot, he was capable of double and triple barreling any pair, and he also bluffed occassionally. His weaknesses, however, were that he called a bit too tight OOP, he 3bet tight (and was very strong on his 3bets), and he picked some bad spots to bluff when he did bluff (A hi flops OOP even though he would 3bet most/all aces preflop). He would've been a great opponent to play 2-4 tables against (he declined to play 2 unfortunately), since I felt like I could make my decisions very quickly and accurately.
Feeling pretty good about my game. I failed to study this weekend though, so that sucks, but I'll prioritize and get on the right track this week.
Pretty tired, so that's all I have in me. Only played 22 games tonight. Going to go fall asleep watching the new Mad Men ep. GoT for tomorrow. Veep too, though Veep seems to have lost a step in season 2, at least to my eyes.

Hyper Update

Played one guy 21 times in a row tonight. Getting some good rematch action on black chip.
Started out nicely, 6-3, but finished 8-13, tough 2-10 run before he had to go. He was a loose player preflop, and fairly weak postflop overall. Really passive with aggression preflop. The games took years to play, so many got to high blinds where I'd chip him down somewhat then get burned in the end game. Oh well, I'll take that action all day every day :)
I listened to about 18 minutes of Sentin's video pack yesterday, it's coming along very nicely. I expect it to be a very solid hyper turbo pack addition to the site, with some unique perspective and topics. I also took a look at an outline for a hyper pack by a pair of very solid regulars as well. More on that in July probably, but hoping this progresses as well as it looks like it should (and tentative release is early fall).
Non Poker Stuff
Found out at the doctor today I need some laser surgery on some veins in my leg. They're messed up, either due to sports as a child, gravity or my height. Nothing serious health wise at this point, but good to fix it before it does get worse. I won't have it done until July, but the post operation instructions are ridiculous! I can't do anything that gets the heart rate up for 2 weeks (lifting, walking fast, running, hiking, biking... god hopefully not sex I didn't ask) so the veins can properly heal. I also have to wear some tight tube socks (medical version) during that time, and I have to walk 10-15 minutes per hour to prevent blood clots (fun, slow walk for 15-25% of the time I'm awake, that won't be annoying...). Also my leg will probably be bruised up pretty bad for awhile. Good stuff!
Planning on getting a pair of dogs soon as well. Just a little more yard work to do and we'll adopt a pair of dogs from one of the many rescues around. Looking at things like Rhodesian Ridgebacks, Huskies, German Shepards and a handful of other breeds there are specific rescues for within 5 hours of here.
I also received a call that my brewing stand will be dropped off on Thursday, so it'll be exciting to get that up and running. I'll grab a pic of it all setup Thursday too.
Shark Tank
Been watching some Shark Tank lately. I've watched the 3rd season before, a little bit, but we're starting back at season 1. It's a good show, definitely interesting from a business/investment/negotiation standpoint. The premise of the show has 5 people that have ran startups to great success before (FUBU founder, some software and licensing guys, real estate mogul and telemarketing sales guy), they take 3-4 startups on each ~43 minute show and decide if they want to invest. The investors talk about their idea, they give the sales figures (if any), answer other questions from the investors and they get some pretty hard feedback. If the "sharks" (investors) are interested in buying into the business, they propose an offer (which is usually way less than the startup people ask for at the start of the pitch). Sometimes sharks team up to invest, sometimes they try to outbid each other. It's a pretty good show overall. And very similar to the poker world, you get a lot of people that have ideas, a lot of people that over value ideas or small projects, and then a few really slick people that maximize what they can get out of something, while not overvaluing yet still working in a motivated and intelligent way. Hopefully I fall into the latter group if we ever sell this site.
In any case, some humor too on some of the failures. This was one of the more interesting failures (and an extreme example, most stuff is more realistic than this). It's interesting to me that 100 years ago, if someone had an idea to cut open your chest and place boobs in them, or say put a plastic contraption in your chest around your heart... it would probably get an even crazier reaction than what this guy proposed. Granted, his idea is impractical just from a use standpoint, but the surgery aspect isn't that far flung.

Update of Grind

Another night.. another pair of terrible opponents! I probably sound like a broken record at this point, but the $36s on BCP seem to bring a new form of poor player just about every night.
Started out against a guy that literally semed to click random buttons. MR call 65s first few hands, limp called similarly ridiculous stuff 10-15bb deep, chased undercard gutters to turn bets, called me down with absolutely nothing once, all sorts of fun. Was mostly even vs him but won the last two before he called it a night. Oddly enough, he was chatting to himself about how bad I was, as if he was talking to someone else (perhaps I'm an idiot and have observer chat blocked, but I don't recall ever doing that). One of the better lines, "if this was live poker... "  a few actions later "forget about it." Pro tip: there really isn't live heads up poker.
Second guy played completely opposite, very weak. Just a lot of folding, then we get short, stick it in and see what happens. He also advertised hands very clearly (like weak draw or pair or good overs would call, top pair or good draw would check raise). Fun times! This guy made a few improbable comebacks, but I ended up going 5-4 vs him.
Was listening to some of this tonight while playing (not this exact mix, but same guy). Was overall good, what do you guys listen to?

glad to see you'e finding the

glad to see you'e finding the games easy and doing well! Ive been grinding to country lately, even though i hated it for years but have a new found liking for it recently; probbecause its fun to play on the guitar.  Mainly listening to luke, bryan, kenny chesney, blake shelton and zac brown band.  If not country I prefer grindning to reggae.  I usually keep it mellow because im a  tilt box and i feel this helps me keep calm.

Btw Lovee shark tank it's such a good show. Only reason I dislike it is sometimes i feel that theypick someone for the entertainment value of the show and that have a  0% chance of getting an investment.  By doing this they bypass someone who had a good prodcutalbeit boring but had a good chance of getting an investment.  I think the show is entertaining enought that this is not necessary.

Pics of beer stand when it gets here please! Awesome that you're getting dogs from a rescue.  Im not sure where I want to settle down yet so i wont buy a pet but I'm volunteering at a shelter playing with and walking the dogs.

Interesting, I haven't tried

Interesting, I haven't tried country, it's just one genre I don't love, However, reggae is legit. What do you listen to? I have a few channels on my roku I jam to sometimes when doing various tasks around the house. I don't have anything on my computer/cd though, so curious if you have any recs.
Yea, I agree a bit about Shark Tank. I think we've seen like 10 eps in the first season and there haven't been too many like that bluetooth guy. I think a lot of the issue is that people just won't come down on price. They have like 20k in sales over 1 year and they want to sell 10% of their company for 150k. It's insane.
We've wanted dogs for years, but we always rented back in Chicago and the last 3 years we had an apartment... just not an ideal setting for a dog. Now we have a yard (albeit smaller yard, but we fenced in our front yard to prepare) so it should work out well. You should post some pics of the shelter you volunteer at, that's pretty cool.
Beer stand came today, it looks great. Will post pics tonight when I update my session total.

Played the same guy all day

Played the same guy all day today. Earlier, went 3-1. Then the server was restarting and it hadn't updated my cashier, so I took a break and got some other stuff done. A few hours later I hop on and the same guy insta sits me, like he was waiting for me! 12-8 after that until he quit me. He seemed like a semi regular, I bet he wins at $36s, but has trouble with very aggressive guys (he was way too weak in too many spots, like a tight passive player that bluffs very infrequently and gives up pretty easily).
Brew stand came in today! I gotta get some small accessories for it (various fittings and pipes), but I should be ready to brew in the next week or two.
To explain the picture below. The top level is where the water heats up. Then it drains (each pot has a drain in the bottom of the keg converted pots) into the mash tun (the 2nd pot). This is where the hot water mixes with the grains, usually at ~150F (65.5C), to extract the sugars from the grains. The liquid then drains into the bottom pot, the boil kettle. It is filtered before going into the kettle (via a metal screen at the bottom of the mash tun called a false bottom) so that there are little to no grains in the boil kettle (they scorch and you'll wind up with some off flavors in the beer). Boil kettle boils the wort for about an hour. Then I attach the hose to the copper coil (called a chiller, not pictured) which circulates cold water inside the copper, thus cooling the wort outside the copper coil. Once it is 65-75F (18-24C), I drain the wort into a 5 gallon (~19L) bucket, aerate (stir) it so it is rich with oxygen, then pitch (dump) the yeast into the wort. I put the lid on and store it in a temperature controlled fridge (usually 66-70F). It sits for a week or two, then I drain it into another 5 gallon bucket or glass fermenter, where it sits for another 1-4 weeks. Then I bottle it (can keg it too, but I haven't kegged in awhile) and in 2 weeks it's ready to drink.
That's the basic process of brewing beer. Of course there is a ton of variation in many of those variables, depending on what type of beer I brew and the characteristics I want to give the beer.

The picture below is of the top tier, me lifting the pot up a bit so you can see the underside and see the burner.

Sorry to hear about ur health

Sorry to hear about ur health problem, just don't strain your legs by building your micro brewery. BTW, where did you learn how to brew and construct the necessary equipment?
I already see here a wonderful merchandising story to emerge. Beer ads appearing at your site featuring the likes of top HS players like Lotte Lenya telling us in the camera: "Do you want to shove perfectly under 12BB? Drink Ryan's beer! Look at my PT4 graph, drinking his beer during playin increased my ROI by 0.5%!"

RyPac13's picture
That's a great idea... we can

That's a great idea... we can add caffeine and natural roots with low alcohol and make it a poker energy drink! I can't imagine anything could go wrong.
I learned to brew a little over 6 years ago. Two friends were brewing without much success, one of them was a "know it all" and decided he knew better than the information out there, and like a beginner cook trying to do it all on their own, it didn't work well.
So the other friend, much smarter, but not someone who was going to go to war over decision making (brewing is supposed to be a fun hobby!) teamed up with me and we started brewing. It worked out really good. He was a high level mechanic with extensive schooling, so he had strength on the technical side and in learning, understanding and following the process. I had some good creative strength, but I think my decision making was fine too. We both committed to the process by the book, and made some pretty good beers. We started experimenting more (pumpkin beers.. I think we made an earl grey tea beer before any commercial breweries... I could be wrong there though) and many other creative twists.
Our best accomplishment has been receiving feedback of "flawless" on some of our beers from award winning brewers. That was an awesome feeling.
Constructing equipment is mostly just reading what others have done and thinking about what you want to do, sort of like if you wanted to build a deck in your backyard. By the way, a great forum for anything about brewing beer is homebrewtalk.com. There's plenty of other great resources, but you could sit on that site, brew beer on your own, and end up becoming a great brewer just with the educational resources on that site.

Disappointed

Man, no comments on the new brew rig. Color me disappointed.
Started out by playing the reg that recognized me (aware of this thread I'd imagine, otherwise wouldn't likely know my sn). We 2 tabled some games, first 2 tabling I've done in over a year I believe. Went 8-10 against him. Made more mistakes than usual, but that's to be expected when 2 tabling against a solid aggressive player. I'll take as much practice as I can get with that, and will look to 2 table more players in future sessions.
Not much to say about strat. I assume I'll be facing this guy again and I don't need to make my job any tougher by giving him a roadmap to my thoughts on him, particularly since I'm just getting back into games and there's not even mucked cards/hud to use. I'll say he's a solid player though and good competition.
Then I watched a video from an instructor, analyzed some spots that came up in that video with a very good high stakes player and just couldn't resist staying up a bit longer to play some games. So 10-6 vs a nittier reg and here I am. I'm very pleased with the amount of rematch action I'm getting.

Played a bit yesterday, the

Played a bit yesterday, the usual several rematches versus one player and then a handful of other games. I also moved about 5,000lbs of patio bricks yesterday, and had a patio installed today. Thankfully I did not install it, Brent (ITRIED) built his own brick patio a few years back, and while it looked great, I remember how much of a workload that was for him and a buddy. I have a good contractor that works for only $17hr and does work better than I could and far faster. I also bought my house cheap so that I could afford to put in upgrades and fix things the way I wanted them, so it works out great.
In any case, very tired today and will be making a video on the new Merge HUSNG structure changes, which I helped facilitate as a bridge between Carbon Poker and the HUSNG community. I'm very happy with how those changes came out, look for a video with a detailed breakdown on the changes as soon as Merge implements them (any hour now I believe).
If I catch a second wind I might play a formal session today, but I think I'll probably just fall asleep early watching some Arrested Development Season 4 (2 episodes in so far, and cautiously optimistic that I'll enjoy eps 3+ more than 1-2).
