On the 89cc hand - As I was watching it I felt like 10J is more likely to call 2 streets since it has overcards, but then thought about 56 being just as likely since they improved from 4 outs to 8 outs on the turn giving them a double gutshot. Pretty sick spot Jackoneill.
Really odd that these villains bet so weak with such strong hands in a few of the spots. I only wish that my villains would bet this small against me when I get coolered! :)
Where/what have you been doing Skates? Good vid bud.

I'd like to know what production setting he used in Camtasia for this vid, very good video quality.
RyPac13 says:
It was on my PC, so the same as I always use I believe.
4 frames per sec on capture rate, key frame every 80 frames, better compression (bar is all the way to the right under that label) and display acceleration is disabled during capture.
I think the last thing may be a difference maker. I had to do that to get the replayer to consistently work well while recording.
If anybody that knows something about this stuff has any suggestions for my settings, please chime in or PM me. And feel free to ask for any other settings I left out (I usually produce videos in the original dimensions, best quality production, .wmv format).

Another solid Skates video.
I rated this 4 Stars, but it was a close decision between 4 and 5. The content was much lower than the first "Board Texture" video, but still great information.

On the 7d5h hand with the 427 flop all hearts, can someone comment on why flatting is better than jamming when he bets? I think I would usually just get it in on this flop. How do we benifit from seeing a turn card?
RyPac13 says:
Hi Soul,
What were the effective stack sizes and positions here?
I can get an answer from Skates for you. He's no longer making videos since he's moved out of the poker industry, but he would likely have a clear answer here (and I can run it by another instructor and my own thoughts too).
Thanks.
soulsbyc says:
The effective stacks were 845 at t50, so ~17bb. 75o was min raised on button and flat called. On the flop villian donked for half pot.
Cheers for your help!

M@d@M@d@D@ne was kind enough to break this hand down for us both (qualifications, $500k+ high stakes HUSNG winner, well respected)
- You don't necessarily benefit from seeing the turn. There are reasons calling can be better, but it doesn't apply to this hand (If you feel he is leading a polarized range, the nuts or air, then flat calling will actually be superior).
- He could be leading hands like 98 with a heart, or JT with a single heart, hands that don't want to check call and aren't good enough to check raise.
- Calling the flop because your hand isn't great has some merit, but it's not guaranteed that your opponent two barrels air (most good players won't often do it here). If the opponent was often two barreling air and two barreling their strong hands that they would bet/call the flop with, then calling the turn can make sense, as you'll get more value from your opponent's air that way.
- If you don't plan to get all in when a 4th heart comes, flatting is bad because it gives your opponent the opportunity to bluff you out of the pot with air.

Thanks guys!

For the 72983 Board, Should we not also included 87 into the villains range here?
Are we assuming that he is so passive that he would just call with 87?
Curious as you never mention it.
Thanks
