Hi Ryan,

good leakfinder.

I have a question to the K7o hand at min 16:00. Opponent shoves on the turn, where he had two pair and we call. In game I call this shove as our hero did - but I would not be excited about it. I stopped the vid there. Watched the hand again and again and then the game again from the start. Opponent was really passive and in hindsight I couldn't find many hands we beat after his shove (maybe K2, K3, K5, K6) but that's it. I had not the impression this opponent is able to shove something like middle pair with turned flush draw etc.

Would this be a terrible fold? And I don't think I am results oriented because I hated opponent shoving even before I saw the showdown. So I am not sure why you came to the conclusion that this is an easy call. Am I making mistakes here putting my opponents on a range? Am I giving him too much credit?

Good question.

I think there are two major factors that push it into a call that are absent in your post:

- Stack sizes are small and there are a good bit of chips in the pot already.  This not only means that we need less estimated equity to call the shove, but it also makes it more likely that our opponent is going to get it in with a wider range of hands.

- Going in line with that second part, weaker pairs and in particular draws might feel the turn is a better spot to put the chips into the pot after we bet.  More initially passive preflop and flop opponents may continue passive play more often than not when stacks are deep, but when the pot is 280 chips on the turn and we bet 170 and they only have 720 chips in their stack, hands like J8, or suited Tx/9x hands are much more likely to just shove over our bet than continue to call.

In the end it's not a fistpump super friendly spot vs a passive opponent, but I think we're much too committed and don't have enough solid information to fold such a strong part of our range.  If he's doing this with draws, weaker pairs and such, we're making a massive error by not getting it in.  And if his range is quite strong here, I don't think it's nearly as large of an error as we make when folding + him doing this with some weaker hands.

So I do still think it's a standard call, but that doesn't mean I'm pulling up Amazon to order something fun with my prospective gain in this hand (certainly not before he flips over a weaker hand!).

Let me know if that is clear.
