RyPac13 Video 16 - Regular Speed Series Part 1

RyPac13 works his way up the regular speed ladder, starting at the $5.25 level.  He plays a loose-preflop, weak-postflop player and adjusts as his opponent changes gears.  He also explains why players should generally avoid playing the $2.20 level.

I apologize that this video

I apologize that this video is so short.  I tried to add another game or two to the video, but I played two players that honestly just called any bet, so those were really boring games.  Another was a quick QQ vs AK loss AIPF, and the 4th didn't work out for reasons that currently escape me.  The other videos in this series should be longer though.

I do, however think it is the type of opponent that members often say "well, you guys have a lot of good higher stakes videos, but I don't play a lot of players like that."

My opponent in this video is probably one of the weaker that you'll ever find, hence an easy player to get an edge on, but poker is about maximizing your edges rather than just trying to find a profit vs anyone.

If you're leaving a 5% edge on the table vs the fish that you can still beat, and managing to breakeven against the best players, your focus should be on better exploiting the fish.

This guy also did some weird stuff that I only really see in the small stakes games.

Hey, Congrats about the idea

Hey,

Congrats about the idea of a video series like this.
Nice video, i think it's important to see: "yes I know that he's a donk but u don't have to win every pot, have patience" :D
Because I think that most mistakes against these kind of players is that we get so frustrated about his play and let it get to us.
I also would love to see some games against over-aggro donks in the beggining of this series.

Some sugestions:

- Since these will probably be the videos that most players will search where to start I think it is very important to be detailed about obvious concepts. For example:
You c-bet, he calls and the turn comes 2, and u say it's not a good turn to 2-barrel. I think that in the very first video it's important to explain that it's not a good card because everything that he would call the flop he probably still likes it at the turn since the 2 is not a scary card. Stuff like these that you probably don't need to explain after we pass the $5-$10

- I think its interesting to prepare what concepts you will explain in these levels before the video. For example:
At the $5 and $10 more detailed about value betting, playing against aggro donks, etc..
At the 20-30 maybe start dealing with fit and fold guys
At the 50 start getting into detailed into hand reading etc... at the 100+ start talking about balancing ranges etc...

Well I'm just playing the $5's and $10's myself so I wouldn't know how to divide into concepts very well, obviously these concepts are important in all levels but i'm talking what a player from skill 0 would start learning and moving up :)
Maybe this is interesting, i don't know, but I liked the ideia of the serie so GL and TY.

edit: lol sorry, it's such a big comment, i swear it looked smaller in the text editor :P

Great concept

Hey, very nice video...and I really like the concept of climbing the levels and therefore to see the different dynamics of the games depending on the limits. I could say that is what I am looking for as a HU SnG beginner and I agree with the good comments from Rgoltsman. However, very cool that you make such small stakes videos....thanks.

As I was watching the video,

As I was watching the video, my original rating was going to be 3 Stars due to apparent lack of content.

But I realized that though the player was so bad, there was some very solid advice about how to improve my ROI vs. this type of player.

I do recommend that members watch this video.

I rated it 4 Stars.
