PokerStars Update on Equity Sharing in HU Mtts and 4 Man Deals

HU MTT Equity Sharing Same as Regular MTT; 4 Man Finals Chopping OK

PokerStars recently clarified their stance on equity sharing in heads up mtts and deal making in both heads up mtts and 4 man hu games.

PokerStars has decided to treat heads up tournament equity sharing the same as multi table tournament equity sharing, deeming there no additional advantage gained by equity sharing in either format.

They have also made clear that deal making is not sanctioned until the final table.

Further, PokerStars says that every game until the final table must be played out in its entirety, legitimately. Therefore, all in preflop type "chops" or "trades" are not allowed in 4 mans or in heads up mtts until the final table.

PokerStars stressed that these rules are unofficial, meaning they are not published on their website and are subject to change in the future, though it is unlikely that they will change anytime soon.

From the text they sent me,

From the text they sent me, unofficial just meant subject to change at some time in the future.
Which is kind of weird, because you would think that any rule is subject to change at any time, but I was just reporting what I heard (and not a big deal since they said "it is not likely to change."). I assume it is just a technical term/more likely to change than official rules.

Pokerstars will never act on

Pokerstars will never act on *such* topics, as long as there are no public complains. Remember...it took years and piles of public complains until they "officially" did ban final table coaching. As long as it took, they backed off within week again because players raised the question "how can you check without violating user privacy rights?".
And it is the same with iPoker and their high dispise of bots, while they are boter paradise number #1 and everyone knows it. :p
As long as players are not stupid enough to make the deal right in the chat window AND there is someone who does not call a moderator but write an email to the support, nothing is gonna happen.

Hi.

The rule does not say you

The rule does not say you cannot make a deal before the final table. It says that PokerStars does not sanction any deals before the final table.
However, the rule basically means that any deal has to be private and the game has to play out legitimately. So if you go all in preflop after making a deal with 16 guys left in a HUSNG, you're taking a risk.

And that was different

And that was different before? I have a little trouble with this idea.

I believe players received

I believe players received emails or feedback that equity sharing in hu mtts was not allowed as recently as 1 or 2 months ago. There were some conflicting reports from Stars.fr and .com support and people were confused, so I contacted Stars, they talked about it and arrived at the decisions above.
