I rated this video 4 Stars.
Solid video with thorough and understandable commentary. I'm looking forward to many more of your videos!
Just a couple picky things that didn't affect the quality of material: An irritating clacking noise started halfway through the video. It steals attention from time to time. Also, a lot of the videos here, when you resize the viewer to full screen will also enlarge the table. It's makes for easier viewing.

About time we got mjw here!

I was in a hurry this morning and forgot that I had a question to ask about this video...
@20:00 You pick up 94o. 25/50 blinds...you fold. Your next big blind you pick up T4o and say, "As I said earlier, it's profitable to open any two cards against this guy...I don't like folding two buttons in a row."
I've heard other instructors say this as well. I understand that against this opponent this is a good raise, and I wasn't surprised that you raised here. In fact, I was expecting you to raise the 94o the hand before.
Can you explain your statement in a broader sense...I mean when you say you don't like folding two buttons in a row, is this a general statement?
While I at it, your raise sizes in 25/50 blinds are often 120 or 130. When the blinds are so high, this is significantly higher than a minraise. Is this an adjustment to this particular opponent, or is it a frequent bet size you make. Doesn't the minraise work as well at this level?

The next questions are based off two related hands, both limped pots:
@17:15 85o 20/40, flop: Js5s3c. "I elect to check the flop. I don't think there's a whole lot of value in betting. He hasn't been stabbing a lot and it will be valuable to fold out his overcards, but there's just not a whole lot of hands that we can bet for value against and it's just not that valuable on a board like this to fold out small amounts (?) of equity when we have middle pair." You check, Villain checks...
Qc comes on the turn. "Given that the turn brings another overcard, I bet this for value. There are two flush draws...", etc.
@20:50 72s 25/50, flop: 8d3s2s. "As opposed to (the previous hand), I did bet the flop here. It's partially for value and partially to protect our equity. I think there's a lot of small cards (i.e. 65) and overcards that will call. (In the previous hand,) there are a lot of one-over and one-under hands that won't call, but hands like JT might float here. On top of that, we take the lead in the pot, so we can certainly be firing two barrels, depending on the turn card obviously. There's a lot more merit in leading out in a situation like this; his entire range has good equity against our hand.
***
I have some big leaks here when deciding when to lead limped pots. My thought process is not clear and I really never know what to do in either situation. Against an unknown, I am more inclined to lead out in the first hand, because I know I will get more folds. However, sometimes I may decide to lead out the 85o hand and shut down if called. I then play very timidly and fold to an opponent's bet.
The reason I am unlikely to lead the 72s hand is that I am afraid of being called. While I realize that many hands will call that I have beat, I am afraid of any turn card (except of course 7 or 2). I am very likely to fold to any sort of aggression.
Against this particular opponent, I am more likely to lead both of these flops.
I'm not sure what my specific questions are here, which doesn't really help you answer them. :)
I guess my biggest dilemma is against a random opponent. When I bet with the 72s, my opponents very often seem to call and I never know where I'm at. Is there any further advice you can give me here? What turn cards would you barrel (against a random player) in the 72s hand?

Thanks for adding the reasoning along with your vote. It will help us to improve future videos. I wish everyone did this!

"Can you explain your statement in a broader sense...I mean when you say you don't like folding two buttons in a row, is this a general statement?"
Yeah I guess this is more of a broader sense thing. I don't want a random opponent to know that my open range is very close to 100% so even a few folds here and there will affect their perception. However, it is still going to be profitable for me to open almost atc vs most opponents on the button so that is the main reason I don't like folding two in a row...
"While I at it, your raise sizes in 25/50 blinds are often 120 or 130. When the blinds are so high, this is significantly higher than a minraise. Is this an adjustment to this particular opponent, or is it a frequent bet size you make. Doesn't the minraise work as well at this level?"
Yeah this is more of a personal preference thing. I think I state that MR is going to be fine at the start of my video but I feel that by mixing up my raise sizes it gives me the opportunity to manipulate my opponent based on how I feel they react to certain sizes. Against this villain, it was probably better for me to just keep min-raising to be honest.
Limped pots hands.
The big difference is the boards. I expect to almost always get floated by 2 overcard hands -> hence getting more value with our pairs on a 8 high board to a J high board. To go with that, its also very different having bottom pair to having middle pair on these boards. In the 85 hand, he caqn certainly have hands like K2/4, Q2/4 etc etc (a very small part of his range i know), but these hands are going to have a lot les equity vs our actual hand, as oppposed to the 27 hand where he always has equity with missed hands so it's more important to fold out small parts of his equity. In saying that, yeah we could def lead the 85 hand as well on the flop.
In terms of barrelling, I will barrel almost any turn just purely based off the amount of folds we get. A random opponent will float us reasonably wide and even though our hand has some value we're going to be lost and having to c/f if we give up the lead in the pot.
Hope that all makes sense, im happy to answer any further questions regarding this.
Cheers,
Matt

Thanks for the quick response...Yes, that helps. I see a lot of stabs or checks OOP in limped in video after video of course, but this was the first video I've seen that lays out two seemingly similar hands practically side by side and explains the difference in why you would lead one and check another. It was a very instructive insight.
@xSCWx: Honestly, the noises and the ability to enlarge the table did not affect my rating, as I don't believe this kind of thing should be factored in unless it really detracts from the presentation. In this case, it did not. I could still easily follow everything.
The reason I didn't give it five stars was there wasn't enough content and interesting situations for it be rated "awesome". Before taking offense, realize that 4 Stars is "Great", which gives me more than enough value for my time to view it. And when I say "not enough content (for five stars)", understand that as the instructor you cannot control the situations that come up during a particular video.
So even though it was rated "only" 4 Stars, I believe mjw did a nearly "perfect" job of providing commentary based upon the given video. I hope that makes sense? Just because the video is rated less than 5 Stars, there is not necessarily anything that can be done better to improve that rating to 5 Stars. It is very dependent on the opponent and the specific cards dealt.

I didnt even realise i get stars. 4 is good right!!! haha, i realise there wasnt much content, its just bc its a free sample vid, there will def be a ton more content in future vids once i start my first series.

Watched the vid. Nice work.
Only question is about the HUD. The only use I have found for a HUD in a husng is to show me the effective stack sizes.
You seem to have a whole bunch of stats up. Have you found any of them useful in a husng?
Thanks,

yep absolutely but this is probably more because i play the same opponent somewhat frequently. Also when multi-tabling i find it super useful in the case that ive missed something. Doesnt mean you dont have to be paying attention to how someones frequencies change with stacks but i do find a hud really useful.

Yeah nice vid, because it shows everybody that theres no need for big moves. Ok, sometimes 2nd barells are important(if we call it " Moves"). Waiting for more vids
