Mersenneary Video 15 - $100 and $200 Super Turbos on Full Tilt

September 26, 2010 - 23:47

Mersenneary 2-tables $100 + 2 and $200 + 3.50 superturbos. He talks about what makes a leak a "big" leak, being aggressive in limped pots, and when to not bother being unexploitable.

Apologies if formatting oddities are annoying for anyone here - I'll take care to not have as much dead space in future vids (I usually don't)
Enjoy!

Great video again!
One question: You take the cb vs a limp with A6s around 34-36:00 at 16BB. Do you do this with all suited aces and when do you start shoving this against limps?
mersenneary says:
Thanks for your comment! If it's the hand I see at 35:00, we're 24bb deep with A6ss. Jamming depends on opponent but there are arguments to start somewhere between 15-22bb readless. 2p2 (aka filthyvermin) has been arguing to me for shoving it near the higher end of that range, I'm not convinced yet, but do think 24bb deep we should check behind.

First, I love your videos, especially the power points. In fact, I signed up for the premium membership just to get access to those specifically.
As for this video, the content is great, but I would have gotten a lot more out of it had you just played one game at a time, and talked about your thought process during that game. You obviously have an exceptional mind that can simultaneously think through many thoughts at the same time, but I spent a lot of time lost and trying to follow the plot of the two games simultaneously.
I would love to see more superturbo videos, but greatly prefer either the powerpoints or one game at a time with lots of deep talk about your thoughts during the game.
Thanks!

At 34:41 you bet the river holding 7s9h.
I was wondering what the reason is.
Let's consieder what hand might villian have?
- Overcards: he will fold for sure, we don't make value with this bet
- Busted draws: he will fold to our bet for sure, but maybe we could indicate some bluff with check/call on the river
- He could have a six (he didn't cbet the flop which means quite often second pair as I observed), in that case we are beaten
- He might slowplay some flopped sets or two pairs (turned to full house on the turn), in that case we are beaten
- Very rarely he will have a 5 but I'm not sure he will call our bet on the river
As a conclusion I don't see why does it worth to bet on the river. He will call (or raise) only when we are beaten, and he will fold when we have the best hand. Moreover checking the river we could indicate some bluff from busted draws.
Could you please explain? (By the way, did you mean that river bet as a bet/fold or bet/call?)
Thanks a lot, and sorry for my English...

I think c/c very well might be a better line, but also think some of your range analysis is off. I think he very rarely has 6x/better after checking the flop and snap-calling the turn - that's going to be a lot of 5x and showdown value type hands, and I'm not sure why you say he has flopped sets/two pair/6x but very rarely 5x, when 5x makes lots more sense. Check/calling river can also be fine and I'll admit I didn't look at any other part of the video as it was so long ago, so it depends on how passive/bluffy he is. But yeah, your commentary on the proportions of his range is the biggest thing I would focus on advice-wise.

Hi
Really like this vid
I would like to see more superturbo vids, and especially more vids like this one where you multitable superturbos
Because, like you said: you get to see double the hands + you can pause the vid when necessary

At one point your saying somethin like `Nash is a pretty decent guide for 8bb< poker, but a pretty poor guide for more bb's?`, but in vid.20 I see you happily use nash for almost all your >8bb decisions.
You didnt explain why nash is a bad guide for >8bb poker. Can u give me a link to a video or post where it's explained why it's such a bad guide?
