Mersenneary Video 12 - August's Focus Part 1 of 2

August 21, 2010 - 22:05

Mersenneary plays the second match of a $80+5 4-Man tournament against a passive opponent in Part 1 of a two part series. Next week's follow-up will focus on how drastically different late game decisions should be made against different player types, focusing on why utilizing adaptive exploitative play instead of autopiloting produces much better results.

01:17 You mention a series of hh threads…. Where are they located?
Also, as a side note your mic has a lot of reverb to it. I'm guessing that it's a cheap desktop mic, or a built-in laptop mic. I think an upgrade would make the audio quality of your vids 10x better.
49:20 Could you expand on the theory behind 3betting with bottom of calling range? I had to be the first to ask :D

I'll look into the mic, thanks.
If you go to http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/58/heads-up-nl/, click search this forum, advanced search, for threads made my the user spamz0r.
As for 3betting, basically, there's a decent amount of theory that suggests hands that are borderline to play might be good in your 3bet bluffing range rather than your calling range, giving you more of an opportunity for preflop folds and helping balance your 3betting range to not be so weighted towards monsters. That said, it's something you want to be doing with reads like we did in the video.

There is a section in No Limit Holdem Theory and Practice (2p2 Sklansky book) that talks about using the best of the hands you would normally fold to an open raise as part of your 3 betting range if you were interested in deeper explanation.
Also, as spamz0r has stopped doing this HH reviews, I attempted to do a few so far with more coming if you search for threads started by ajloeffl on 2p2.
Good luck at the tables!

Thanks! I knew Sklansky talked about it somewhere.
Per request, a new mike is in the mail and should be here in time for next video. I do like spending RyPac's money.
