Greetings FrankThomas8,

I was thrilled to see you made another video. It's nice to watch winning and thinking players offer analysis at these higher limit games.  There were two potential issues IMHO, but I'm ambivalent about my second concern.  Maybe I'm being somewhat harder on you given your receptiveness to constructive criticism after your 1st video..

My first issue was with the audio.  It was a little hard for me to hear you at first.  You might adjust your microphone or focus on speaking a little louder.  I'm wondering if you just naturally have a soft voice?

Ok, on to the second issue.  I'm wondering if you could have featured opponents with a little more ability  While students can learn from all types of opponents, I noticed that both of these opponents have lackluster stats and marginal poker skills.  They don't necessarily seem representative of average opponents at this limit.  Of course, I can understand not wanting to intentionally spend big money to make a coin flip against another pro (and there is a dynamic at the higher stakes where professional players flip or entirely avoid each other).

I'm just wondering if one of the two games could have featured a winning or break even opponent.  I should add that other videos have had the same issue, so I don't want to point my finger just at you.  We do need to learn how to defeat poor and mediocre opponents as well.  Also, the poorer opponents at the higher limits would probably fare much better at mid or low stakes.  However, the skill level of opponents is something that might be disclosed in the overview.

I don't want to fail to address the videos strengths and your abilities as both a player and commentator.  I've enjoyed your first two productions and believe you've picked up momentum as each video progressed.  Your analysis is concise yet informative.  Also, I feel that I can always understand your commentary as you shy away from using confusing language and convoluted reasoning.  I gave you five stars and hope you make more videos!

Thanks,

Jeffrey

Greetings,

I thought I'd chime in and tell you how jealous I am of your background.  Or as xSCWx said, it was 'SICK!'

Thanks,

Jeffrey

Hey thanks for watching my video and offering your feedback.  As far as the sound concern that's simply a technical issue and can be resolved easily if others find it a bit hard to hear as well.  On your second point about the soft opposition, it's really just the the way it works; the regular players such as myself will sit in a lobby and wait for a non-regular player to sit vs us.  In the 4 person shootouts, I always sit with a regular winning player and those almost never attract other winning players.  To be honest I did not even look up stats on scope on any of the people I played in the video, and I tend not to these days just because I don't want to get down on myself if i'm losing to a weak opponent or if someone has really good stats that might affect my play/psychological state also.  Thanks for your input and I am open to other comments/questions/concerns that anyone might have.

Greetings FrankThomas8,

Thanks for responding to my post and addressing my concerns with candor and openness.  I was going to say thanks for being 'frank.'  Ok, I'm not funny.  Regarding the audio, I should disclose that I'm partially deaf in my right ear, which makes me very sensitive to audio concerns.  It probably doesn't help that I have both of my computer speakers on my right side.  Others might not have any issue.

Also, thanks for the explanation regarding your opponents.  I've watched all of the HUSNG instructors (including you) play several games.  Your explanation conforms to what I've seen.  And, I think you made a very powerful point about the downside of Sharkscoping your opponents.  I've caused myself misery by playing my opponents' statistics instead of their current behavior.

Again, thanks for the video and response.  My hope is that you'll continue to make videos as a guest or better yet, as a regular contributor.

Jeffrey
