guys this is a bit ridiculous, if your going to vote a video 2 stars, you MUST tell the creator why you think it isn't that good, otherwise he cannot work on improving his videos for you.
cog dissonance says:
Thanks Primordial..I was thinking, surely it wasn't that bad? Some feedback would have been nice.

Can't wait to watch this video, as I liked your guest video. Don't worry about the "weird" ratings without any concrete feedback, happens ;)

Another good video :) You always say to lose the minimum and win the maximum.
But how can you win the maximum with this passive style ?! Of course you can´t change the way you play because the opponent will regognize the betting patterns. But with a "standard" 3xbb Raise preflop with strong hands you will win more? I guess thats the disadvantage in this strategy.
But i liked your instructions and wish i had your patience :)
cog dissonance says:
Thanks sng,
I think it's a balancing act between getting value for your good hands and not going broke when you are second best. I tend to be pretty careful, for example the A4322 hand I could have gone broke by trying to get value for my flush. Admittedly the full house was fairly obvious, but it's hard to accept that your straight and now flush are dead.
You'd be surprised how many times I do get value on my hands for example the AA on the second video.
Cheers
Paul

Really suprised at your RR. Its a way ahead/way behind situation as i see it. Either he's a complete bluff which its new into the match and you dont know him to well, or he's got a higher flush or the full house or the 5. Do you think your getting value out of his possible 5?
thx

Great video Cog.
Slatey says:
I sorta take that back...i didnt check his stats before....more suck donkeys ass players..so tough spot i guess.
:)
cog dissonance says:
I think in hindsite the re-raise was pretty bad. Mentally it's hard when you have the straight and then improve to the flush to accept you are now beat. I was hoping to get value out of a 5.. but really all the signs were there that I was in trouble.

Thx for the grate video. Since your first guest video came out, I've been applying your philosophy to overagressive guys cause I had a lot of troubles playing against them. End it seems to work well =)

I like the video, I think your approaches are a great addition to the other coaches' styles and can work well against a lot of opponents at the lower stakes. I often just think too much about certain plays from opponents (meaning I maybe give them too much credit and end up leveling myself because they just think a bit simpler than I expect).
But (there's always a but..., isn't there?) I don't like your play with the 7c5c hand on the As4c3c2c2d board on the river. You mention twice that you don't put him on a five (or at least you don't weigh that option as much as a flush draw or a 2pair hand on the turn). In my opinion you can't raise the river here and then call a reraise. Your raise (for value) might get called by a 5 or a 2pair sometimes, even often enough to be profitable I guess. But I don't think your opponent reraises you with a worse hand and after his reraise you are probably up against either a bigger flush or a full house but almost never see a 5, Ax or a bluff here. So my line would be to just call his river bet. And if I was going to raise the river then I'd lay it down versus a reraise. Because that laydown would be hard for me I prefer a simple call in this situation.

Awesome. I tried your min bet trick tonite and looky looky...

cog dissonance says:
Yeah the more I think about that hand the more I like a bet-fold line. I think flat calling is a little conservative..but the raise and call is the worst option.

I like the videos for a number of reasons, mainly because you are not a superstar player, you are at a level I could conceivably reach.
After watching this video I have gone on 7 BI plus 24 hour period. I have had a mare recently, where i dropped 22BI. What I realised was I was getting way out of line against low stakes players. Many of these players aren't trying to read your hand and think how they will play the next cards as they come, they see a pair of 8s on the flop and will not fold despite what your gameplay is telling them.
I have pared down my aggression, and played much straighter lines, just using my superior hand reading/thinking to dump on people (i think i won 16/20 hands or something), following the principle i lose only minimal money on bad hands, make more on my good ones.
I am not saying this was solely your video, but your video reminded me to check back on the basics (for example I was raising calling hands like t8s/j9o OOP way too often)
cog dissonance says:
Yeah you can make a lot of money at the lower levels by playing solid poker. I have for sure.

Hi Cog.
I really like your videos. I like that you replay your games, that gives me more time to think how i would have played the hand and also you have the time to give a good explanasion to why you play that way. I also like that you speak clearly and calm, so all of us that haven´t english as our mother language can catch up.
Now to the video.
At first i didn´t understand how u could be a wining player with that player style (have only watched your to first videos so far where you look to be a smal ball player), because by experience and reading thats a losing style. I think the smal ball opponents are the easyiest to play. Anyhow, it seems to work. I will have to try it out a bit more before criticising this player style to much, it seem to work well against agressesive players which i dont understand because i rarelly have that problem.
But one thing that I would like to hear your opinion on is, don´t you think you give away to many pots to smal bets against you, like $30 into a $210 pot and so on.
For example when you had KJo on a paired board and the OP always bet them, didnt you think you should play that board?
DONT COMPLAIN, JUST WORK HARDER! Brick walls are there for a reason: they let us prove how badly we want thin

I rated this video 5 Stars.
It's an important video to watch carefully all the way through, because match flow is critical. I'm sure match flow is very important in most matches, but it is more apparent in this match.
I have one question. You say:
"He raises to 90, I immediately reraise him to 360. You might think that the fact that I've made no raises from my BB or SB might scare someone off. At the $50 level you might think someone might pick up on that, but he's not folding."
This video is obviously a bit older. Would you say the same thing today at the $50 level? And was there something about this opponent in particular that causes you to say this or are the majority of opponents (at this level) this way?
cog dissonance says:
Well I have to say I think the games have tightened up a little. I'm not sure if others agree with me.
