Greetings,
I just wanted to give you some feedback. Earlier today, I told Ryan I hoped to see more videos that used the 'traditional style.' What I mean by that is basically having a coach play poker and explain their decisions on the fly.
This video was neat for several reasons including the fact that it wasn't a leakfinder. I don't abhor leakfinders as they have great utility, but I prefer videos in the format you used. Also, you offer good practical advice and analysis. I was able to follow your reasoning the entire video and never once had to pause and rewind. Basically, I liked the fact that you used plain language and didn't get bogged down discussing the more nuanced and theoretical aspects of playing poker. Also, I'm delighted that a coach uses the min betting style which I employ against my villains at the micro-limits and five dollar level. Furthermore, I liked the regular speed format, which often gets overlooked.
I did have one question. In the second video (against the 2+2'er) you folded J8o to a min raise but said you could have called it. In the third video you elected to call K5o when faced with the same scenario. I'm wondering if your decision was a result of reads you picked up from the first match (and part of the second match). I might have mucked the K5o but played the J8, and perhaps I'd be wrong for it (J8o is probably the minimum that I would call from the BB when facing most villains who min raise). Any feedback would be appreciated.
Five stars. Please make more videos as I extracted a lot of value without having to perform any mental gymnastics,
Jeffrey

I haven't watched the vid, but just wanted to say that I actually like the fact I have to "pause and rewind" because I feel like it's stuff I want to pay attention to, to get me thinking more. Having said that though, I'm obviously not taking anything away from the great comment (which gives me a good feel about how this vid will be) or brilliant27 vid it'self, which I'm sure is great too. I have watched all the other brilliant videos and thought they were....well....brilliant.. but maybe not 27 - it'd give them 26 :)

Hi Jeffrey,
Thanks for your comment, I really appreciate you taking the time to write out a response to the video. I’m glad that you enjoyed the video format! I suck at making powerpoint presentations, and I suck at doing concept vids, so I’m glad that this “real time” video came across well.
About the minraising preflop, I love the minraise. It is very effective in keeping the pots smaller and allowing us to focus on postflop play. I find that against most fishy players, it’s good to play smallball and take advantage of their huge postflop leaks. By minraising, the pot stays small pre, and that’s what I want. Also, if they 3bet, it’s a little easier to call 3bets wider, because it’s a smaller percentage of my stack. So I think the minraising strategy should def work well for you, esp at the $5 level where fish can do all types of spewy things postflop!
About the J8os hand, I could’ve flatted there for sure. Or I could have folded. Either way wouldn’t really be a big mistake. I used to be a big nit oop, a few months ago, but I realized that I was folding too much oop preflop to minraises, and started to open up my game. So, against minraises, my calling range is much wider than it is against 3x raises. K5os also isn’t the greatest hand to flat, but it’s not the worst hand either. And facing a minraise, I think once again that flatting or folding is fine. If you feel you have a big edge postflop against the certain opponent, feel free to flat pre. If not, a fold is fine for sure. No worries. As for why I chose to fold j8os and flat k5os specifically, there’s no real reason. I guess I’m just mixing it up a bit and going by feel. But like I said, its ok to open up your calling range a little more against a minraiser, as compared to someone who is 3xing a lot.
Thanks for rating it 5 stars! I’m really happy you enjoyed it. And I am scheduled to make at least one more video next month for husng.com! Anything after that will be based on the feedback from you guys. So if you like my vids, def leave me some solid feedback, and I’m sure Ryan will sign me on for more!

Thanks Freak of Nature, I appreciate it. As long as the scale is from 1-10, ill take a 26 instead of a 27 :P!
And, if anyone was wondering how I got my name “Brilliant27”: My favorite commercials, back in the day, were the Guinness commercials, where the stick figure guy yells “Brillianttttttttttttttt”. I found those series of commercials funny, and when I started playing poker, I’m like, “Brilliant27 would be a funny name”. Unfortunately, I don’t like the name anymore lol, but can’t change it now lol. Oh well, its kind of an interesting name lol. And 27 is because 27 is my bday.

doridee was me and you are right.. you are lucky I didn't have my chat you son of a @!&*^@!.
LOL you ran like the sun.. thats the only reason I quit you donkey! ;)
My over bet on the river hand I had like 108dd and runner/runner a flush so I though that my over bet would look like a bad attempt to "buy" the pot but I should have known Eric is too smart for that. I did notice that you didn't three bet me the first game and I played bit more aggro then normal beacuse of it. I did notice you started a bit in the second game but I still think not enough to warrant me to slow down.

Nice video man! Really enjoyed it! Even if I prefered your deepstack video (got some interest for this format right now), I thought this one was also top quality. Can't wait to see the next one!!!!
Keep the good work!
