Big Things Are Happening

It's been awhile since my last blog post.

Briefly, I've decided that my future blog posts will focus more on poker strategy blurbs.  I want this blog to have a purpose, and I feel one of my strengths is articulating poker concepts in a coherant way at a very fast pace.  On the other hand, one of my weaknesses is articulating it to such a degree that it is acceptable and relevant enough to post in a full article on the site.  In turn, this makes the prospect of me writing full articles on the main page poor, but makes short strategy blurbs a seemingly natural fit.

When I go off topic, I'll try to best relate it to a poker lifestyle.  I'm not exactly a poker professional as many picture one to be.  I don't play 40 hours a week (or even 20), but lately I have been playing about 15-20 hours per week, as well as running this site and coaching, so I'm much closer to a poker professional than I was a year ago.

Big Things Are Happening

Now to the real content of this post.  There are some major changes that we have almost completed on the site.  Sometime over the next few days the look, feel and makeup of the site will change drastically.  This should all be for the better, in just about every way possible.

Here's a list of some of the changes and the details of them:

- New membership option "Standard Membership"

This membership option will be available for $25/mo or $60/3 months.  Users purchasing this membership option will receive 12+ new videos each month from instructors such as Cog Dissonance, RyPac13, Fydor_8 and others, mostly focusing on the low to mid buyins.  Additionally, these members will also have access to over 75 videos previously released on this site from all instructors, mainly from the $1-55 buyin range (with some $115-230 videos in there as well).
With this change we are scrapping all of the video packs except the Hokie Pack.  All of the videos from the Sampler and Beginner's packs will be available under the new Standard Membership.

We don't have the details fully ready yet, but all recent video pack purchasers will receive some access to the Standard Membership option.  The length and how far back the purchasers will go is still TBD.

- Lower rakeback requirements to earn free memberships

One of the benefits of adding the Standard Membership option is that we will be able to lower our rakeback requirements for many of our sites when you sign up through rakeback.husng.com.  This will allow lower buyin and lower volume users access to a wide assortment of videos in the Standard Membership option much sooner than before.  Details on this will come with the update.

- New Instructors

In addition to our newest instructor, ITRIED2WARNU, we have added Mersenneary to the team.  We will make a more formal announcement for both when the new site update is implemented.

Furthermore, we will be adding some sample videos of prospective instructors over the upcoming months.  We will likely do this in the Standard Membership section, so that all members can give us valuable input on the quality of their videos.

- Premium Membership Option

The previous "full membership" will be called a Premium Membership.  The pricing will stay the same ($120/mo, $165/3mo, $65 renewal) as will the major benefit of having access to every single video on the site.

In addition to the 12+ new videos the Standard Membership will receive, the Premium Membership will receive roughly 10+ videos focusing on more advanced concepts and higher stakes buyin games from instructors such as HokieGreg, xSCWx, Skates, ITRIED2WARNU, Mersenneary and more.

Premium members will also have access to previously released videos from the $115-$5600 buyin levels.  Every $570+ buyin level video as well as many of the $115-230 buyin level videos will only be available with a Premium Membership.

- Expanded Free Content

With the site update, we are creating husng.com/free, which we hope will become the leading place for free heads up sng content ranging from a wider assortment of free videos, articles, tools, blogs, forum and more.

This section of the site will be continuously expanding.

- PrimordialAA Videos

As most of you have heard now, PrimordialAA will be leaving us for CardRunners.  We all wish him the most of luck as he moves on.

In the meantime, all previously released PrimordialAA videos will remain on husng.com, scattered between the Premium and Standard Membership options (mostly by buyin and target audience).  

We will also be posting 7-8 new PrimordialAA videos in the upcoming months.

- Style, Speed and Function

In addition to all of the content changes just mentioned, the entire site will be upgraded.  Things should move faster and the entire function of the site should be easier to navigate.  We will look towards updating the FAQ to include some common issues that we constantly receive emails about.  The style and new look of the site may also be more visually appealing.  That last one is pretty subjective, so I'd like in particular to hear opinions of that once the update is complete.

- Other

We also have an array of ideas to be implemented in the upcoming months.  As they turn into concrete plans, we will inform everybody at the proper time.  In the meantime, look forward to these new changes on the site.  They should be happening in the next few days.  

Overall we are very happy with the success of the site over our first 15 or so months in operation.  The changes we are making should allow us to continue to be the leader in heads up sng content and keep the site extremely flexible for any type of player, budget and interest in heads up sng content.  We appreciate any feedback, suggestions or ideas during and after these changes.
