15$turbo: FD/over vs Villain c/r

Villain is thinking player agro on position, tight OOP - calling 10% oop / 3b 25%. This is his first c/r on flop. How u play that hand? If I would do this again i would probably check the flop because this board hardly hits his calling range.

Thanks for advices.

i would call the c/r not

i would call the c/r not because it doesnt hit his range i think it does but because we get the correct odds to chase

i think his calling range is high card weak kicker and he is 3 betting his premium holdings + suited cards or suited connectors

the way villain played i suspect he had Kx (maybe jx) with a weak x and no or very low diamond

so i would call flop c/r for pot odds not because i believe it missed his range

Hi there borell I would

Hi there borell

I would probably prefer to avoid 3betting all in on this flop with just the Ad. As you've said, opponent is playing tight OOP, so this c/r is likely to be Kx or 2-pair. While we have around 45% equity vs Kx, we have less equity vs other strong holdings, even if these aren't so common. I think a smooth call on the flop is better than a shove, since we can play in position and win the pot often if he's bluffing and he gives up on the turn.

I should say this however: I could also fold vs the c/r on the flop. As this is villain's first c/r, as you've noted, it's likely to be for value. The c/r is an overbet (250 into 197) which makes drawing expensive. Additionally, it's unlikely that a lower flush will pay us off if we hit (except maybe Qd or Td). All in all, this isn't a particularly profitable spot. If villain were in the habit of c/r with great frequency, a shove would be fine, since there will be fold equity. As it is, I'd say you got lucky.

Hope this helps
