So 5-6 weeks ago uni kicked me in the balls, and I had to draw the consequences. Some of you know that I'm currently wrapping up my MSc in Real Estate, and as much as I love poker and browsing 2+2, my education will ALWAYS come before my poker.

Up until now, my average scores at uni are really really good...and I wanted to keep it that way. So I decided to bann myself from poker, 2+2, and HUSNG.com for 4-5 weeks. It was the right choice, because the course is really tough, and it allowed me to ace my exams :)

I made my comeback 2 days ago, which coincided with my poohbah status on 2+2. My poohbah post consist of the creation of a HU Travel Thread allowing people to post trip reports, travel advice, and other tourism related stuff. Read all about it HERE.

It's been a while since my last update, so here it goes :)

Vacation

I went home to visit friends/family back home in Switzerland over Xmas...and then went snowboarding for 3 weeks. Awesome, poker-free time, with tons of powder snow and quality time with my bro. Bellow are a few pics that say it all...

Exams

I've been suuuuuper busy this past month with midterms. Unfortunately, I totally underestimated the time required to prepare for exams, work on my disseration, and complete a lot of group work...sadly, this cut into my poker time. I think I only managed to play around 200 games this past month. Also, I noticed that if you're stressed with work, you don't usually play your A game. Towards the end of the month I quit playing for like 2 weeks because of a stress induced downsing.

Anyway, I started playing again 3-4 days ago, and started off with a nice little downswing at HUSNGs. Everyone deals with those downswings differently. In my case, I usually cut down a bit on volume, and spend more time studying by watching videos. I also mix in some HU cash to get unstuck, because for some weird reason I always run like Jesus on steroids in cash whenever I'm on a downswing at HUSNGs. Long story short, it's been the case this time as well, and I made back the money I lost last month and during the past 2-3 days :)

Just a quick update this time, no long stories...

I spent the last few days working on my game by trying to identify typical villain lines, and what they mean. Stuff like "min-donkbetting the flop", or "calling the flop, potting the turn OOP". I also moved up to the $26 on RBP last week.

It's cost me a bit of money, because the only way you can find out, is by calling. Anyway, it DEFINITELY improved my game :)

I also spent last weekend designing custom pokerchips and plaques for Spamz0r (2+2 ) in Photoshop. He was kind enough to ship me some $ on Stars for my effort. Now I don't play on Stars anymore because I moved my roll over to Redback Poker, but couldn't find anyone today to move that Stars money over to RBP. I therefor decided (after 2 Guinness) that it would be fun to try and bink the $22 5k guaranteed HUMMT...and I kinda did. Made a deal when we got to the final for $1250, which was like $250 less than 1st prize would have been. Definitely a +EV move after the Guinness I had. I recorded the whole session, and will upload it sometimes if anyone's interested.
