Moving to the Philippines Soon...

I moved up to $23s last month on PokerStars, earlier than I would have liked, but I'm finding them very comfortable. I'm surprised at how bad some of the players are. I think I'm on par with even the better regulars at this level, maybe a little weaker. I've been running pretty good, with ROI over 12%...my EV is a little over 11%. I suspect this is short-term fluctuation and hope I can maintain 8% for the moment.

As I've stated in earlier blogs, my plans are to move (back) to the Philippines as soon as possible, and I am currently aiming for the end of February. I will need to demonstrate to myself that I can earn around $20 an hour. This would be 4.6% two-tabling $34.50s (including normal bonuses, but the milestone bonuses, etc., would be extra). So this is my immediate goal. I'll evaluate further goals when I reach this one, like calling the Flop to re-evaluate the Turn.

Well, my 75-day Action Plan bit the dust I guess. But I'm somewhat on track if I would bother to calculate.

I haven't done routine HH reviews. I'm a little behind on the number of videos I wanted to have watched by now. And I haven't played enough SNGs each day. Sounds pretty close to on track to me!

Anyway, I have progressed through $2.20s and $5.25s, and moved into $10.50s. I guess I got a little impatient with regular speed games after that, as I switch to $11.50 turbos. I made it about halfway to my bankroll goal to progress to $23s...

Ryan's post about the newest U.S. poker legislation has prompted me to speed up my goals a little bit, and today I am moving into $23s. I hope not to stay there very long and move on to $34.50s very soon. My bankroll should be plenty big for $34.50s and $57.50s, assuming I'm a winning player at those stakes. I'll use a cautious-aggressive bankroll strategy for now, moving up and down quickly as I make/lose money.

75-Day PAP: Day 10 Update

I guess I picked a bad time to start my "75-Day Poker Action Plan", as life has gotten in the way...my mother's birthday, visiting my grandmother, and my son's first visit here in a few years. He will be in the area another week.

Mostly, I have good "excuses" for not completing my plan. There are times where I am not so diligent and could probably fit a few extra minutes of play or study time in, but I'm not too worried about it. I do play volleyball 8-10 hours a week, but that is non-negotiable, as it is more important to keep active than it is to keep a rigid poker schedule.

After 10 days, I have viewed and taken notes on 38 videos. Maybe 5 of those were actually complete before I started my Action Plan. So I'm on target for the videos.

I have played very little in the last 10 days. I haven't had a serious review of any of my matches, much less with a study partner. I will need to get on track about that soon.
