The 3k challenge had been going pretty well until last Friday. Then came a downswing over the weekend. Long story short, I played 8-9 games against the same guy who was really bad and got it in ahead most times but he somehow manages to win all flips but one. Along with some bad runs and stuff, I was down about 1k at some point this weekend.. but luckily I have been able to (slowly) recover from the loss.

January looks good so far, I've made about 4k from MTTs and HUSNG (I'm a photoshop noob and don't know how to resize the image I captured from sharkscope..)

Although I have been obviously running good (especially in the beginning where I literally sailed through it and won a lot of $$) and the sample size is a bit too small, I feel confident that I am beating $33 games, and prolly $55 too.  Ironically enough, I think I would need to play a lot more MTT games to see where I stand at these.  I mean I don't see myself as being a losing player, but don't know how much I am winning (ROI, so to speak) either - I def need to put in a huge volume!

Let the profit aside, some interesting things have happened in poker.

For the last 2 weeks, I have been grinding 45man and 90man at Full Tilt, with mixing in some rush on demands.  I have made some decent money in these (2.2k in ~400 games) since I was obviously running good, but still am thinking these are beatable at $10 and $24 level.  Then I realised that I don't really know much about ICM thing, which is actually quite important in these, especially in 45man due to lack of antes.  My approach in playing MTTs with much larger field was to "shoot for the first or FT and don't care much about min cashing" but things were quite different here.

As for now I'm not sure if I can put serious volume in this year, but here are some goals I want to achieve in poker (and life):

a) 20k+ profit from HU and MTTs - I'll mostly be playing HU at stars and MTTs at ftp, but sometimes might do the other way around.  As for HU, I might try other stuff than stars turbo such as deep stacks, but I kinda like the stars turbo structure and think I'll go with that unless.. I get sick of it.  As for MTTs, all 45m, 90m and rush SNG's at ftp seem quite soft and beatable with a good ROI, so I'll be grinding these on a regular basis, perhaps with 2-3 scheduled tourneys every day.

For some reason, I decided to create a blog that is dedicated to poker, mostly HUSNGs.  Some of you might recognise my SN, I post at 2+2 under the name 'mela.'  I don't play tons of HUSNGs these days since I am taking shots in MTTs, but am still enjoying the game and will post some thoughts and interesting hands here.  I usually play $33-$110 at stars and sometimes $33-55 at FTP with a not-so-bad ROI, but there's still a long way to go..
