Sitting Profitable Players is +EV

Damn its been about half a year since my last post.  How time flies...

So something over the past few weeks has been on my mind.  I know its been discussed plenty of times, but I just need to vent about it.  "Regs" should be testing other regs out at their respective levels and, as I put it, sweeping lobbies.  If people don't like it, then please just sit second or go elsewhere.  It  isn't a right to sit first, it is a priviledge based primarily on whether or not you are perceived to be +ev to sit.

The levels that I play ($100-$200) seem to be the breaking point for where courtesy of not sitting profitable players becomes murky.  Some players will sit winning players while some bitch about it like they want to go tell mom that their sibling stole their toy and how it isn't fair.

The grind begins..

Through the first few months of the year I began mixing in $200 HU SNG's despite the fact that I was rolled for them MUCH earlier than when I started (i'm a bankroll nit).  I decided though that for June I would only do $100 HU SNG's and not play any $200's as the swings and psychological impact would be larger relative to $100s.  I can remember one day starting $600 being down - $500 from some sick, sick variance, and finishing only -$100.  The real importance of this though is that I was able to maintain a solid mindset and I played my "A" game throughout the day.  Despite it not being that large of a jump from $100s to $200s, mentally I know it would have shaken me up a bit while the $100s did not.

I graduated biatch

Well the days of all nighters due to procrastination and dragging myself to classes to take exams are part of the past.  Now I get to pull all nighters making money and on my own terms.  I had the family up on Sunday and for me it was more of a relief to have it done than actual celebration.  Neither of my parents went to college and I was not raised in an environment that, shall we say, entertained the possibilties of a higher education beyond high school so some of my other family and friends were high on praise.

Going to Vegas May 29 - June 5 to meet up w/ a few people it should be fun since i've actually never been there before.  I was initially planning on playing one or two WSOP smaller events, but now I am probably going to pass on it for this year because of some unexpected expenses.

I cannot wait until I graduate at the end of this May and can begin to put in some volume at the tables. Although I made about $7k last month from limited play, it is still frustrating to know that i'm losing money. Obviously my education must be completed first, but damn i'm sooooooo close to the finish line.

Meeting s.thoro, paulgees, and a few others in Vegas sometime between May 29th and June 6th for the WSOP. I don't know what I will be playing, but probably a smaller event and also some deep-stack poker mtt's at the Venetian.

Traffic on Cake has also been horrible. In addition to having a lack of time, it does NOT help me to sit for one hour and thirty-two minutes and get NOT ONE $200 GAME...FML. Was thinking of putting some money on UB/AP and playing a few HU SNG's there to boost the volume problem when I do play. Any suggestions/comments on this idea?

Guess this is where I write a little about me, eh?

Well i'm not one to drag things out so here it is in a nut shell. I'm 25, graduating w/ a Bachelors in Business Management in May, and plan on playing full-time Poker for at least the remainder of 2009. Short-term goals include paying off $10k student loans this year (sigh) and saving money for whatever business investments I find in the future (i'm an entrepreneur at heart).

I started poker probably 4-5 years ago initially just for fun, but didn't get involved with HU SNG's until last February. I basically railed the good players, took notes on my game, and self-taught myself for the most part through trial and error. This past Sunday I moved up to $200 HU SNG's, much to the delight of paulgees, s.thoro and a few others simply because I am a huge bankroll nit. I love HU SNG poker and I do not see my fascination with the game fading anytime soon. School is a bit hectic right now but I should be posting more soon. Site looks great btw.
