Where Does the $$ Come From?

Sometimes I wonder how much of the money being won in poker is from degenerate gamblers who can’t control themselves. I’d like to think the money that winning players make is just from the thousands of players that deposited a couple hundred bucks, lost it, and never played poker again. Maybe those players lost it at low stakes and it somehow gets funneled up to the regs at higher stakes.

Is it all about STs or what

As if it wasn't hard enough to get a turbo or reg speed game post black friday for US players, now they gotta go and throw STs on Merge. I can get a bunch of STs in while sitting for hours in the reg speed and turbo lobbies. I guess it's time to jump on the bandwagon and start playing these things just like everyone else. It seems like to make solid money now you either gotta sit all day and hope to get enough games in (reg speeds or turbos) or just grind out tons of Super Turbos. The thing that sucks about STs is if some random player just sits you for one game you can't make as many adjustments as you could in a regular match. Adjustment wise, in a non rematch situation, the games just don't seem as complex.

I run good in MTT Freerolls

Just figured I do a quick blog update. On Saturday (2-12-2011) I decided I'd deposit money into Full Tilt and give Super Turbos a try. I've been playing the $55 turbos on stars but decided to start at the $20s with Super Turbos since I'm not familiar with the structure. I only played for one hour on Saturday but I got 13 games in and with the turbos on stars I only get 5 games in per hour. Over a sample of about 2k HUSNGs on Cake and Stars turbo structure I average around 11m 45s per game. If I can get a decent ROI at these STs it seems it will help my hourly rate with all the games I can get in per hour. I only played 13 games but I saw some guys do some pretty ridiculous stuff so I'm feeling pretty good about these. Although it was a saturday, so it's probably not indicative of the mid week players.

January Summary

January was a fairly busy month for me. I started graduate school, played more HUSNGs than I've every played in one month (which is still barely anything!) and went to vegas a couple nights for a mini vacation and to bet on NFL playoff games. Unfortunately I didn't get to play any poker while in vegas. I've played $1/$2 NL while visiting for the weekend before and the games seem to be really soft and full of recreational tourist players. But what really ate up the most of my time was how good the waves have been around here (Southern California). There's been a lot swell and I've been surfing way too much! I've also been battling it out with Doyle's Room the entire month trying to withdraw my money but that's a whole different story which I've been whining about too much lately. I spoke with a True Poker (the network they are now on) support guy today who's gonna help me out with the withdraw so things are looking a little brighter.

"Bros Like This Site: Poker"

This site is pretty hilarious. It's written from a "bro's" perspective and they cover a lot of random topics. It's pretty much a sarcastic take on a "bro's" lifestyle. Just thought I'd post a link to this one about poker. A lot of the other ones are actually funnier but this is a poker site so I thought it would be more appropriate. Check it out...
