The road from being bad to being great

Recently, I blogged here about having ugly downswing at the $23 games. As if it wasn't enough, unexpected job duties emerged - to be PM responsible for a really ambitious and big software project is sometimes quite  time and energy consuming.

Tilted, frustrated, stupid ... better move back down

So, after few weeks of going upwards from $11.5 to $23, having nice results and thinking Ohh man, I'm good, the bad times arrived recently. The chart of my progress on the $23 level speaks for itself:

When I was going upwards, I had such good feeling from my game - reading the opponents well, no FPS, no levelling wars, focusing well. when I started to sink my game completely broke into pieces. Where my preflop minbet approach had worked before, it didn't work any more. 1/2 cbets on dry flop started to be called by opponents all the time with their 3rd pair, relentlessly hitting rivers to have two pairs, etc. ... don't want to be a crying baby here.

Baby steps on new limit - $23 turbos on FTP

On Jan 16, my bankroll finally reached the number of buy-ins I need for confident play on new limit ($23 turbos on FTP). So far, I haven't noticed any significant difference in average player quality on the new limit. On the other hand, I met few regulars that seem to be quite good (read as “better than me”), so I marked them and I try to avoid them. It is good to see that they also try to avoid me :-) On the other hand it is sometimes frustrating to review the hands and see how stupid lines am I sometimes capable to take :-) I hope this gets better over time.

Here are my recent results from the $23 limit:

What makes me sad is the fact that this blog has no viewers :-)

Still on my quest to glory :-)

Hi, just short update. Still playing the $11.5 turbos on FTP.

So far, I'm happy with my game - although some stupid moments still occur :-). BR is getting closer to $1000, so slowly incorporating some $23 tourneys. However, I'm still ready to move down quite fast when feeling money scared or otherwise uncomfortable on the new limit because of the bigger BI. Played just few on the $23 BI, so can't tell if I see any big difference to the $11.5 BI. On the other hand, I had to set a rule for "sitting out" after 5 consecutive loses, because I'm easily tilting away another buy-in or two.

So, to put the story short:

(the stats were reset on 31 Dec, 2010 23:59)

Now, my goals are simple:

Mama, I'm coming home (at least I hope so)

Hello HUSNGers,

It has been a quite long time since my last post (see http://www.husng.com/content/introduction-lets-be-serious), where I made some bold statement about how serious I want to take the game, etc, etc.

However, because of my quite demanding job (PM in software company), I had to put my plan aside, because it wasn't possible for me to work and play well at once. The problem was that when I arrived home from my job, I was usually so exhausted that I wasn't able to perform my A/B/C-game, so the results were quite shitty.

On the other hand, I had some time to re-cap the fundamentals, watch some interesting videos, and to work on the theoretical part of the game (at least to some extent).
